or: maybe they're afraid they overlooked an important demographic group? Historically the Democratic party REPRESENTED the minorities! if the Evangelicals are a minority, then they fit the bill! Unfortunately, I dont believe they "fit" with the Democratic Liberal ethic....

The Dems had him give the keynote address at the DNC! They're prepping that little boy for higher office, believe you me.

Oh gawd, don't compare them to Jackie and John, Mary.

as for the "hunting gear in West Virginia", I recall Clinton making BIG points by stopping into a fast food joint during a jog (McDonalds wasnt it?) Those little personal touches matter to some people. In Kerry's case, It seemed staged, I'll agree with you, but Clinton actually has a fondness for fast food and it was so natural that people warmed to him (that's the "everyman" appeal Im talking about that he has)

Except they don't want him to put his personal beliefs aside. That's why it didn't work.

Fech, he was doing it in a sleazy manner. He was pandering to the fundies, while leaving just enough room for him to get enough slack given to him by his base. I know, I gave him some. How stupid I was. It was cheap and showed how incompetent he was and what a loser strategy it was.

Oh...my.

My mother had heart surgery the day that story was all over the news and I sat in the waiting room with my jaw on the floor. The numbnut tried to show how manly he was by shooting dear...and then having his staff pick up the carcass behind him and hold his guns for him. That was as bad as his visit to NASA, Krista.

Well, I would too. But ask your average fundamentalist if they do. That was my point about Kerry.

I was working at the journalism institute at school last year, and of couse, we covered it pretty heavily. I totally wasn't excpecting him to do that. He ran a bizarre campaign, to say the least.

Almost...almost.

All those stupid things are just photo-ops and it just shows how stupid our society is when we need photo-ops like jet flying and dear murdering to help us decide who to vote for. I don't give a **** who I'd rather have a beer with, I don't ****ing drink. It's all so...stupid.

But Kerry never claimed to be an "average fundamentalist" to MY knowledge ??? Maybe he's in the wrong party???

He looked like one of the giant condoms from Woody Allen's Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Sex when he went to NASA.
