They did a couple of segments of the show then disappeared. It was great to see them again.
How cool! MST3K is my all-time favorite show. And you're thinking of Michael J. Nelson.

The outside skits got a little too elaborate for me. What I loved was the commentary, and I was always tapping my foot until they got into that theater! One of my favorites was this Norse film that involved a Santa-like character on a sleigh - been AGES since I've seen that! I have the DVDs of the episodes snarking "The Beginning of the End," "The Girl in Gold Boots," "Hamlet," "Space Mutiny," and "Overdrawn at the Memory Bank." Just recently Cathy from the BN board came over and we watched them do their number on a short film about taking Home Economics from 1950 or so, and before that one which shows kids how to responsibly save money from around the same era. Hilarious!!

The Home Economics short is so hilarious!! About the outside skits--I find many of the earlier ones boring but I think they got better with time. Overdrawn at the Memory Bank is probably my favorite episdoe. Raul Julia cracks me up in that movie. And I love the skits in that episode, too. They make fun of PBS well. I think the Norse film you're thinking of is Jack Frost, a Russo-Finnish production, actualy. I remember how Mike and the 'Bots had a field day with that. Nastenka is a kick ass name.

I miss seeing MST3K

Tom Servo: (While looking at the opening credits of a cheesy movie trying to determine if the worst actor ever is listed in the credits) "Shatner...Shatner...Shatner...No Shatner, We're safe"

My mom and I cried when they took it off the air! Seriously!

And after we saw the series finale, we went outside to the backyard and sat down together, mumbling things pitifully, like "They really went home. Mike and the 'bots went home. They're not in space anymore." We loved it so much!
