No, it was a very disturbing movie. The girl who wrote it pulled from her own life. Unlike us, she was into that stuff at 13. The whole scene with the two of them huffing and then slapping the **** out of each other .... good grief I think she's written two other films since Thirteen and she's not even out of high school. She's come a long way from her inner-city days.

They tackled everything from abortion, to single mom-hood, drugs, sex, etc etc etc. Everything kids go through, they did it. No candy-coating. Right in your face. Hugely popular. It's seen in the States, too, I believe... though I couldn't tell you where...
It was a drama, I presume?

I'd add Kids In The Hall to my list -- another creation of Lorne Michaels.

Big time dramatics. I can't believe that show is STILL on. I'd imagine they've run out of storylines by now. I think it's on Noggin (a digital cable channel that's part of Nickelodeon). I may have watched it twice in my life.

Kids In The Hall was tacky sketch comedy from a bunch of Canadians at its finest. In fact, one of the stars of that show went on to become a regular on SNL (Mark McKinney).

Kids in the hall is extremely funny at times, most times. DeGrassi Jr. High was good. I remember thinking: "ohmigosh!" when I watched it, because kids in my Jr. High school were not like that at all. They didn't have those problems, and they didn't dress like that, really. Their hair wasn't so much like that, either.
I remember thinking "ooo, the city is scary!" It is really good, though.

I really want KITH on DVD I always liked the secretaries sketches... "TEMP SLUT, TEMP SLUT!" and of course, Buddy Cole

I can't remember which part of the Degrassi series I've seen but I think it's probably the newer episodes. The city is scary? Dude, isn't it set in like -- Toronto? A major crime there would be...hockey puck theft

I know. But it seemed scary to me. I actually mostly watched it in Jr. High.
Plus, I lived in Pleasantville.

Nonsense. I love the lady. (But I wouldn't want to live near her.)
