Wow...that Janet program puts it in perspective. I guess a much better job could've been done, but I still want the GD tourbook. I can't help myself!

I've been thinking of designing my own Stevie t-shirts for myself. Get a little fabric paint, fabric markers, etc., and go to town! The only thing is I can't sew worth beans, so I'd have to get some of those fitted t-shirts from Old Navy and do it on them. Hmmm...sounds like a fun project...

Janet Jackson- now THAT's what I call a tourbook!

Sheebus... I think this has got to be Stevie's worst tourbook yet. I mean, if that half-shot of Stevie on Daryl Smith's page wasn't bad enough, the freakin' purple lettering on the cover! The tour logo looks downright da Vincian by comparison! In fact, I think an all-white cover with the Lucky Charms design on the cover would have been better!

Mama, I'm here for you next time you need a tourbook designed. I'm sure there are other things Christopher can do... like, don't the daylilies in the yard need watering, like, on a daily basis?

Wow, I see what you mean. There's actually some reading there that takes longer to read then 2 minutes and lots of photo's, very cool.

Since I come from a trucking background, I personally would love to see more photo's of the the "Upstaging" trucks and drivers and more behind the scene's on the tour buses and backstage. I mean do we really need another picture of Stevie just standing at the mic, how about one with her during a shawl change (with Karen) or reebok to boot change with someone pulling her boots off You know what I mean, the funny candid shots.

And here's a page with scans from a Blondie tourbook: No Exit. A little grungy, but it fits the mood of the album. A nice, unifying theme. Not heavy on the photos and sort of random, but it fits the mood of the album (and the band, for that matter).
Gosh, Blondie is hot. That face is so gorgeous!!

What's really funny about that to me is: many of you might not know or remember but a long time ago, one of the first Fleetwood Mac Web sites was called "The Chain Gang" & it was created by a nice guy named Jeff Kenny (or Kenney, I can't remember). John Kinney's Stevie site went up at about the same time, but a lot of us in those early days had trouble remembering which guy was John Kinney & which was Jeff Kenny.

Oh, the laughs we had . . . .

Here's a page that lists some of the Duran Duran tourbooks. They're more like art books that tour programs.

http://www.duranduran.dk/books.htm

A friend of mine had the 93/94 Tour book, and it was incredible, even though it looks like a rumpled paper bag on the cover. Interspersed throughout the book were clear vellum pages with printing on them, which completely changed the meaning/feeling/look of the page it was covering (in relation to the band and album they were promoting). Also, in the centerfold were four seemingly abstract art prints covered by several layers of vellum. You lifted them up, peeling off layers, to reveal the band members' faces.

And, all of their programs have many pages of interviews, band quotes, jokes, stories about the album recording sessions.

Thanks for posting those pictures of the tourbook. I just wished the book was better. You can tell that it was done very quickly. I wish I had one though;it still is a Stevie tourbook from a tour that I have seen Stevie on. I would be willing to pay for the book, shipping/handling, etc., if someone on here would get me one. I have a PayPal account.

Thanks for posting those pics. There are some nice pages in it. It'd be nice to see a little more. I don't see why they can't make the tour books before the tour starts. Old tour books seemed to have more posed and professional photos in them, and some pics of bands in the studio making the album. Maybe a few pics of a dress rehersal or something. I don't see why Stevie's people can't do that now. And sell them starting on the first concert.

Also it'd be fun to see some of her artwork in every tour book. And/or her poetry. You know she must have some that sounds "related" to some of her songs. It'd be great to be able to read some of that. And since this tour is not promoting a new cd, they could have easily used some old photos of her we have never seen or atleast not officially seen.

Oh well. I'd still get one if I was at one of the show. But I won't pay a fortune to get one on ebay. I am very thankful for all of you fans who scan and take pics of them to share with us all. Then in years to come if we see them cheap on ebay or whatever, we can order one if we want. For now I'm still always hunting for cheap prices for like the Tusk tour book, White Winged Dove, and Street Angel. Oy! But I'm getting older...I can probably live without them now. All my Stevie and Fleetwood Mac memoribilia is packed away since our last move. Except for a few framed posters.

I'm happy to get you one from the Concord Pavilion show at the end of the month. I'm going if I can get a good seat when they start popping up. If that happens, I'll PM you if you haven't gotten a book by then.

lol...
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way too! I've been complaining about Chris Nicks for a long time. And for those of you who are happy with the program...you are setting your standards too low! Most of it is plain sh*t. Chimpanzees could have provided better art direction! Most tour books (from other artists) are much more imaginative, make better use of artwork, have better PROFESSIONAL layouts, and far better photo editing.

I always hope for the best...but it always comes to down this crap level. The photos really suck big time! And what's with the front cover...so static...and not very flattering or arty in anyway. And that clunky font used for an inspid title. Why wasn't the "The Gold Dust Tour" title used. For that matter, it doesn't take much effort to come up with a logo or merely a font that embodies some sense of style.

At $20 a pop, fans are being fed puke on page. With all that said...I still inexplicably want one (being the ever so obsessive completest). Her tour is coming nowhere near Portland, OR and I can't get away to any of her shows.

I'm still searching for the Other Side Of The Mirror and Street Angel tour books. I have a spare near-mint Rumours Tour Program if anyone wants to trade. Do you think the current program will be for sale on official sites? It not, if someone wants the Rumours program, pick up an extra copy of the new program at the next concert you attend. We can work it out.
