I don't think we know yet. In Madrid, they got off the trains before the bombs went off.

hate to be the harbringer of bad news, But according to the just discovered oldest biblical manuscript ever found, the number of the beast is actually '616' not '666'...

Man, they really took the air out of the fun I had with the relig-a-tards here with my admiration for my favorite number '666'

I just got Neil's message. Thanks everyone for thinking of me, I honestly felt really touched when I read this thread, I didn't think anyone would miss me at all!

I literally just missed getting a tube this morning by minutes. It has been a very strange and scary day. I'm still kind of shell-shocked about it. I was actually up around Liverpool St where one of the blasts occured.
It was more than a little scary. No one knew what to do because we couldn't get anywhere because public transport was suspended. Then a women came over to us and said "I'm getting out of here, you should too, they're bringing dead bodies up here." So we decided to try and walk as far out of central London as we could, so I'm worn out after walking all day. A girl I work with was actually on the bus behind the one that got blown up after being evacuated from Euston. She saw the explosion. She said the roof went three feet in the air and that blood splattered on the building next to it. She just ran into a random nearby building and was freaking out when we spoke to her.

It was weird - because all the buses and tubes were suspended, people were just walking around in silence. We couldn't even to use our mobile phones to find out if friends and family were alright because so many people were trying the network was jammed and it was impossible to get a connection.

Some places were either in chaos, like round Liverpool St and Moorgate, with swarms of police and ambulances, other places looked like scenes out of 28 Days Later. It's not often you see Piccadilly Circus deserted.

Just a really horrible, upsetting day.

There were no warnings. I think the Olympics will be fine. If anything it's proved how incredible our police, emergency services and just the people of London really are. I'm sure security will be stepped up for the Olympics.

I feel so bad for all of you. Being in the middle of all that must be so surreal and devastating; it's hard to even comprehend how everyone must feel over this. I'm incredibly happy that you're safe and sound, love. The most any of us can do is wish you and everyone else the best and send our love and gratitude that you're okay, and that's what I'm doing.

Like I said on LiveJournal, I don't think these attacks should be connected to aid for impoverished countries. I think this was planned way in advance in the way 9/11 was simply to attack a country that is currently fighting terrorism in Iraq. This attack is similar to those in NY and Madrid, and I cannot believe that terrorists did this to protest aid to Africa. In fact, the more I think about this connection, the more ridiculous it seems.
Yes, the G8 summit issues did include aid to Africa, but it also was a meeting to discuss a plethora of other issues, including the war on terror.

It has been a really surreal day. It's horrible to think if I had caught my normal train I would have been on the underground when the explosions occurred. I go past Moorgate and Kings Cross everyday on the tube. It's upsetting to think that all those people killed were just setting out to work, like me, thinking it was just an ordinary day and now their families will never see them again. I feel incredibly lucky, but even to be in the area where it was all happening was frightening.

Anyway, thanks again for thinking of me. I just wanted to check in when Neil said you were all worried. I'm off to bed now. It has been a long day.
