As usual, special donor packages will be available which include the best seats and other very special treats. For information on the donor packages, call the Arizona Heart Foundation at (602) 266-2200, ext. 4449.

So what are the treats? Meet/greet? Tiffany Candle Holders? Any call and ask yet? Anyone want to buy one of my kidney's so I can afford some more shows this summer?

At a few past events, fans didn't show enough deference to keep from swarming Stevie when she was in the room. I don't blame her for leaving before meeting everyone. In 2000 there were simply too many donors. The entire cast came to the party but were separated from the crowd.

I agree with the person who said AHI is a very worth cause. Donate if you care about supporting AHI. If you're hoping to get face time with Stevie, even if AHI organizers tell you on the phone you'll be able to meet her, and that's the primary reason for donating, don't be upset if circumstances prevent it. Donate and you'll still have a great time at the show.

Yes, I realize she is blameless. Just imagine the shock, you're there, you're really excited because you've been told to be patient and you'll have your time, you see the swarm of the extra crazed fans around Stevie which makes you nervous. You want to race over there but realize that is uncivilized and you do not want to upset the organizers and are just waiting for them to take control. This never happens and Stevie just leaves.

It was utterly shocking at the time. We were stunned. Smacked silly. But if Stevie didn't feel safe I can't blame her for leaving and I think that's what it was. But at the time it was happening I just got emotional.

You were justified in your reaction. The event was a disaster and things were promised that weren't delivered. There was no responsibility taken by AHI leadership. All the Monday morning quarterbacking in the world doesn't change that.

[QUOTE=glitter_fades]Not to discourage anybody, but word to the wise. AHI can't guarantee anybody at a meet and greet including Stevie. Shows in the past have held meet and greets that disappointed a lot of people.

Dissapointing isn't the word......fraud is the word. Geri PROMISED over and over that everyone there (in '98) would meet her. Well.....nope....big pack of llies. never have I even been more upset in my life.

Wow, I'm so sorry. This ads a new twist if you are saying you were promised over and over that you would meet her. Now that's just wrong. I'd be very upset as well.

It's good to read that others feel the same way as I do about our collective negative experience in '98. Usually I am just taken to task for being negative. I wasn't promised over and over because I only asked once. I took them at their word and they failed to deliver. Mistakes happen, if they had just apologized and taken responsibility then I would have gotten over it a long time ago.

I've been in non-profit for years; putting on an event that charges $1K is a huge deal and there is great responsibility to come through.

Another thing about the '98 event. The "special gift" that year was a picture frame. The ridiculous thing is that they only gave one per "couple". Which is fine except that my friend and I (lesbian and gay guy) weren't a couple. We just bought our tickets together so we could sit together. AHI still wouldn't give us two frames.

I understand everyone's beef with the AHI and Geri. They shouldn't have made promises they couldn't keep in regards to Stevie's participation in some events. It must have been terribly disappointing to be told something and not have that happen after spending a lot of money and wasting your excitement on the donor experience. I just wanted to remind people considering donor tickets, the donor status is about being a donor to the AHF charity. It isn't the same as buying a meet and greet from a concert promoter of artist fan club. I would agree, if you pay to meet Stevie and that is written in a fan club or VIP package agreement, you are entitled to it or you've been defrauded. If you make a charitable donation to the AHF, a large portion of which is tax deductible, you aren't necessarily entitled to meet Stevie or the other performers. That's all I'm saying. Forget what Geri says to fans who purchase donor tickets. Stevie might attend events with donors, but she's already donating her time, talent, effort, as well as the participation of her band and friends in the show. If she's not comfortable with the way an event is handled, or the way fans behave at the events, she has every right to restrict her participation. I would be upset if I donated believing I'd get a chance to speak to her, then she left before I could do so. I would only donate if I wanted to contribute to the charity, have a good seat, and perhaps see her at the after concert event. I would not make her attendance or meeting her the reason for my donation. Doing otherwise is at your own risk.

I agree - and I have to say the odds are you will get to meet her even in 98, as I saw what seemed like over a hundred do so.

I'm sorry, I'm feeling very dense right now because I'm totally confused by this post. "The odds are you will get to meet her even in '98." Huh? I think the probability is exactly 0 for people who went in '98 and didn't get to meet her.

No - many did meet her that night. You had to stand in line, but many did. The problem was after an hour or so, she stood up and left. Maybe she had to get on a plane. Maybe she freaked out. Who knows. But many met her, DOn, and Mick. Sadly, others did not. I am not justifying that. I am just saying it seems like the majority did.

Maybe it was just your wording. My point was that '98 already happened, so it's kinda hard to predict probability after the fact. But I see what you're saying.

No harm no foul - I should have worded it better

Wow, you and I have a completely different recollection of that event. I would say about 20 people actually made it up to Stevie and got her autograph. I also don't think she stayed an hour, and most of the time was spent accepting a thank you gift from AHI.

However, I agree completely that the lesson learned is not to have expectations and to spend the money only in the spirit of donating to charity. That way you can't get let down like we did and you might get surprised.

I know this is horrible to ask since it is for charity... but did anyone ask for a refund?

If they are charging $1000 a pop it should be a nice, organized event. Why wasn't there a reception with Stevie. They could have done a nice dinner and had each table go up to Stevie's table one at a time to get pictures and autographs. There could have been a DJ and dancing, etc. It just sounds like the donor experience could have been a lot nicer if some planning had gone into it.
