Default Extremely Stressed Out

I'm in a right state here! We go to Turkey in 7 days and when we booked we knew the place we are going to was brand new... and were assured time and again that it would be ready. Have had endless phone calls with First Choice always getting the same assurances. First guests were going out at the beginning of June and on a holiday forum I frequent we have been eagerly awaiting posts about the place. Well I just read a post that has upset and worried me greatly! This is the post:

DO NOT FLY OUT
flew out on the 2nd june hotel no way near finished was transferred to another resort in mamaris if you are flying uot in the next few months DONT contact first choice ther are 80 guests here on holiday all are upset discusted and unhappy

OMG. Have been on the phone to First Choice and I'm waiting for a call back. I cannot believe this if it's true. We particularly booked this as it's a 'holiday village' and excellent for the kids. If it wasn't to be ready we would rather have found a holiday village elsewhere. The longer I wait for my agent to get back to me the more stressed I am getting. This holiday has cost us a fortune and we are all so looking forward to it. Wah!

holy crap! If that's true, that really sucks.
I don't know how it works in the UK but here there's an organisation that most travel agencies are a member of, and if something like this happens, you can complain there. Or how about insurance?
well I hope the best for you!

I am so sorry to hear this. We work so hard for our vacations and look forward to them so much! I hope this all works out for you. Telling the truth is quickly becoming a thing of the past.

Thanks guys. Someone posted the following update:

Spoke to someone who deals solely with the Pegasos Palace.
He said that on the 2nd June 750 guests flew out there and there were difficulties in catering for all of the guests as there was some work on the complex still to be done. Basically, they had to relocate 70-80 passengers to a resort in Marmaris as these guests were not prepared to wait until those final jobs were completed, which he has guaranteed me is tomorrow. The resort manager has no option but to have these final jobs completed as they are expecting another 650 guests tomorrow and First Choice are not prepared to move any more guests as this has already caused the company enough embarrassment and financial loss.
We fly out on the 16th, and he has assured me that I have nothing to worry about.
I can honestly say, that thay have put my mind at ease , the guy who I spoke to seemed very honest and open, but then again, I don't think that I will totally relax now until I have seen the place for myself.
I'm sure that we will all still have a holiday to remember....for all of the right reasons. (ever the optimist)!

I'm hopeful all will be ok. We would look for compensation if not but that's no consolation when you are actually there.

Pip

Exclamation Hope everything...

turns out good for you Pip...You deserve a big break.

On a related note I used to want to visit Turkey, Now I never want to visit that country after stumbling upon info how the Turkish government "exterminated" 1.5 million Armenians in 1915 and til this day still deny it ever occurred.

Yep. I worked on a play written by an Armenian that dealt with this very issue.

They say the Nazi's learned many of their tactics from the Turks...

Still...I hope it all works out for ya, Pip.
