Denver International Airport is the closest. You'd probably want to rent a car cause DIA is about 60 min from Morrison (just asked my husband)- I am about 30 min from Morrison and the airport is closer to me (but still far out). There is a lot to do in Denver, not really Morrison (you can hike and bike but that's about it) but you could also go to the Mountains if it's a trip and see Vail for example (about 90 min from Denver), Boulder is about 30 min from Morrison and is beautiful and I know Stevie loves Boulder- that fountain in "Has Anyone Ever Written" is there - not sure where though - anyone know? Hotels would be good in downtown Denver, or even Boulder but again about a 20-30 min drive. Feel free to email me - [email protected] for any info - am happy to help!

DIA is the closest airport.
The closest decent hotels to Red Rocks would be the Marriot at 1-70 and Denver West Parkway or the Sheraton on Union Blvd.
The venue is just outside the city of Lakewood and there really is nothing around it.
The hogback has some cool dinosaur footprints on it.

Default Yea Baby!

FRONT ROW! Pulled two tickets on Monday Morning! I knew I loved that song for a reason! They are actually second row, as the very front row is reserved for handicapped seating only. YEA! I sold my other four 12th row tickets on eBay for face value within two days of listing, thinking I wasn't going to go afterall, but then curiosity got the best of me on Monday morning.

I CAN'T WAIT!

hope ya have fun at Red Rocks...Sounds like ya will have tons of fun.

I'm altering my plans (For now) to attend the Gigantour show (Megadeth-Dream Theater(!!!)-Fear Factory-Dillinger's Escape Plan-Nevermore...All these acts and several more for a $35 ticket, CANNOT pass that up for that price!) at the Nokia Live in Dallas on August 2 instead of seeing Stevie in Dallas on July 17.

Chataqua Park? I alway thought it was in Estes Park, though.

I WON, I won! lol. Well ok, so I would have taken anything upon getting to Denver. Pretty sad when you have your airfare from California to Denver Colorado and no frikin concert ticket, but on a whim, I bid on a front row ticket on Ebay, and won. For $100 no less! Fair I'd say. Now, no worries, and decently middle of the row. Not WAY to the left, not WAY to the right. Egad, 8 days away????? Oh man. I am getting very excited! We'll get to the venue early afternoon, and pretty much just chill out there I guess. Tiff goes back early that following morning, but I don't leave Denver until like 3:30p.m, so have some time to tool around, if I am not asleep in my rental car. LOL And w/ a 2 hour layover in Vegas on the way back home (how perfect is that?!) it'll just be a nostalgic trip all around!!!!!

I thought the fountain was at Chattaqua park in Boulder too but I can't remember. I know I saw it years ago (in the 80s) but no clue where. I went to school in Boulder so swear it was in Boulder and not outside of it. If it was in Estes park then Stevie was incorrect in saying Boulder, however she also said it was a 2 hour drive from Denver and Boulder is only about 30-40 min so maybe she had her towns wrong? I've been to Estes park too so maybe saw it there but don't think so.

Anyway - I will be at the show on the 20th at Red Rocks! I am in the 11th row, seats 40 and 41 - I'll be with my husband (the one that will look bored - oh no, not another FM/Stevie experience he's being dragged to - LOL). I am almost 6 mos pregnant so anyone that wants to come say hi please do - I probably won't be walking around much - we went to Van Morrison last month and with Red Rocks and the stairs it was hard on me to walk around so doubt I'll go down and up the stairs so please come say hi!! I am already getting my husband to go get me the teddy bear :-)

Look forward to meeting anyone and saying hi!
Lauren

This website has a very nice tribute for "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You" and includes the fountain pic and marker.

Default Changes

Obviously from the time the photographer took the fountain's picture a lot has changed. Looks like a housing development went up, the tree/setting is gone. "Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you got till it's gone?"
