This poem sounds really cool set to music and with Stevie's vocals. Anyone know why she wanted to basically set this poem to music? Normally she would just take a few words from a story (like Running through the Garden) but this is pretty much the exact poem.
It would be so cool if this was on her next record. I am sure it would be a nightmare to get permision to do it though.

This demo is a DOWNGRADE.
I'd much rather have lyrics written by the Nickster.

I would think that the work of Poe isn't owned by anyone and can be used and reprinted without having to get permission. Anyone know?
It's alright as a curiosity, but it's so slow-moving that it gets old quickly. If she picked up the pace, I wouldn't be opposed to it as a bonus track. If anyone is a fan of Poe and Stevie's Annabel Lee, I highly recommend getting the CD "Closed On Account of Rabies". It's a collection of actors and musicians reading and performing Poe's works to music. Iggy Pop does The Tell-Tale Heart, Marianne Faithfull does Annabel Lee, and Debbie Harry does The City and the Sea (and it's weeeeeeeerd). It also has Christopher Walken, Jeff Buckley, Gabriel Byrne, and Diamanda Galas.

I LOVE it! I've been wanting to hear it ever since I became a fan. I remember when someone first mentioned that there was a demo for it on the BN board and I was so excited! Literary Stevie! I finally downloaded it and got to hear it a few days ago (got it from MistakenLove.com) I SO want this to be tweaked and included on her next solo album! |

I listened to it once and shelved it. It sounds like I should give it another try.

I can sort of see her singing it to different groups of people sitting in different areas of the room where the piano is. When she says, "and I moved on" she quits looking at one and then looks at another. This is a very cool song. |

Well, in Vegas, she did such a high and tight three part harmony during If Anyone Falls, I think she could do it. |
