Default Help! Trojan Small-amt

anyone know how to get rid of this? it's having a lot of fun hijacking my browser and taking me to lots of nasty nasty sites and trying to get me to gamble and buy cigarettes and penis enlargers online and worst of all... it put a photoshopped pic of britney spears on an icon on my desktop which i can delete but magically comes back 30 seconds later.... i'm getting pissed. my comp is still working normally except for those things.

all virus/spyware scanners that i have tried have either not found it or freeze up in the middle of the scan. housecall.trendmicro.com has found the location of the virus but says it is uncleanable... NOW WHAT DO I DO!!?? i know some of you know way more about this than i do so please... HELP ME!!!

Well, I was able to save all of that as the trojan had not infected them - it apparently was concentrating on the IE files. Also, I think had I taken my comp. to a comp. doctor, they maybe could have fixed it without such a drastic measure. Good luck and stay away from those penis pumps

My advice is to boot up in Safe Mode, and try removing or cleaning the virus/trojan that way. Otherwise it'll just keep replicating itself.

I would try this:

1) delete all cookies and off line files.

2) Do you have adaware? Great program free download at

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

3) Try this also AVG program :

http://www.grisoft.com/doc/

See if those help. If not a few other things might work.

thanks for all the advice guys... i do have adaware and it kept finding 179 critical objects and when i went to clean them out the program would freeze... my dad is a computer nerd and he told me these viruses can do that sometimes... but i tried the scan over and over and when i tried to clean the critical objects i would just highlight about 10 of them to clean out and that small number seemed to work... then i'd do the scan again and delete another 10 or so... over and over... scan... clean etc... until it now scans perfectly and says that i have no critical objects.. BUT i do. somehow this damn thing is eluding adaware... sooo...

ok so now housecall found the location of the trojan to i went in and found the location and deleted it... and now my last housecall scan came up clean of all viruses... and then a giant penis picture popped up like some kind of sick joke. soooo... if i try that safe mode thing, do you think if i go to the location that i found the virus in it will still be there? oh, and all of my internet explorer icons are missing from my tray and desktop... but everything is working fine with it... except it likes to randomly go to f*cked up websites....

ok off to try that last avg program seeker suggested.... i'll keep you guys posted! thanks again!

anyone ever get the feeling that these viruses are created by "the only virus service able to rid your computer of (fill in the blank) virus" and "it will only cost you $50!!"

avg is still running and so far has not found anything but i have seen my share of ebony ecstacy this evening.

Look through your startup menu/programs and see if you spot anything strange there. Use explore function from start menu. Try the AVG program also, sometimes a different one can spot it. (make sure you downlaod the updates also) I hate these things also. I had one and found it in my start menu. The problem is it hides in various areas, then replicates itself. So. if you spot the thing, write it down and do a search in find option and try to get at it in the different spots.

I wish you luck. Make sure you dump your recycle bin also.
Last thing I can think of is if you know the name of the thing, do a google search on it. They have sites that can also help you get rid of it.

http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/anal...jsmallamt.html is one.

Hope you get rid of it.

If you don't already have a firewall, you might want to invest in an inexpensive one. And AdAware helps a lot too. Good luck.

Honey, I was having the same problem until I fixed it last night. Internet Explorer is the devil. Go to http://www.firefox.com and download their browser. Use it instead of Internet Explorer and you won't get any pop-ups and your browser won't be hijacked. Like Chris said, download AdAware, too, so that you can get rid of any spyware and hijackers that are infesting your computer. AdAware won't get everything, though, so I recommend Spybot Search and Destroy along with it.

I just got this myself. After days and days of Norton searching and fixing the viruses and adware, nothing worked. I JUST reformated my computer. Bye Bye Mp3s.....pictures....everything.
