How do you get an Umlaut on the keyboard

I don't know if I even spelled that right, but its the German thing that gets put above some letters and I know theres some combination of things to press on the keyboard to type one. Im guess German ledgies would know or maybe other ones too. Its important.

I'm stoked because I found out the number for pound £ (alt + 156) last year. LOL!! Also, I just found the number for this cool music sign ♪ (alt + 13) and the heart ♥ (alt + 3). Very cool.

I've got the £ sign on the '3' key But then it's a British keyboard... we've got the $ sign on the '4' key.

I can also get an umlaut by alt 129 - ü

the others are:
alt 132 - ä
alt 137 - ë
alt 139 - ï
alt 148 - ö
alt 142 - Ä
alt 153 - Ö
alt 154 - Ü
alt 216 - �

all the European accents are there, like é ç â Å ò ø ñ ß etc etc - hope this helps

Ok, NOW...how do we get the US cent sign? That's the most stupid omission in the world...even bigger than Welch not getting inducted into the HoF...that a US keyboard doesn't even have a cent sign.

On a Dutch keyboard it's just shift + " and then type your vowel. Same for é or Ã* or ç or whatever

You have to hold down the alt button, then type in the number.
