Interesting. I assumed you were applying it more narrowly.

Look at your own definition, then, and see how broadly your generic statement is being applied. Look at Number 4, for instance. This could be applied to principles you follow as well. Or are you conscientiously devoted to nothing?

I am not an activist for any particular cause or principle. I prefer to be unmolested and, hopefully, be given the same respect that I give to others.

My tax dollars support the ability for the government to take care of things and I vote for the elected officials that I hope will use those tax dollars wisely.

You'd probably think - "omigod, this person thinks a Sandwich controls the universe, and that a sandwich can help them!" - Right?

Well, to people who don't believe in God, when you talk about God, you may as well be talking about a Sandwich, because it's about as plausible of a concept to us as God is.

*note - I, personally, am not usually very offended when people talk about god in casual conversations.*
I just see it as a philosophy, so to hear people talking about it doesn't offend me particularly even if domestic fanatism can be indeed annoying . Moreover there are a couple of books by Christian writers, 'the Confessions' by Saint Augustine and 'A Grief Observed' by C.S Lewis that deeply influenced me.

Yes, I see it as somewhat of a philosophy, too, ie, it's an abstract web of thought. But most religious people see it differently, because they believe in it, it's not academic to them.
I would never not read a good writer b/c he is Christian. I've liked what I've read of CS Lewis, perhaps I will check out "A Grief Observed".
