You can shave when you're camping.

We were packing salmon eggs into boxes all day!
I would've have enjoyed myself, so long as I made a daily trip to the shower.

I kind of want to go now. And canoeing.

Sounds like my kind of guy.

The closest I've ever been to camping is going to Hampden Beach in an RV last year. It wasn't planned and I just got roped into it. I had one change of clothes, no razor, a couple towels, and that was about it. After two days, I was out of my mind. Finally just got up and walked to Hell and back for a disposable razor, a t-shirt, and deodorant.

I want to go canoeing or kayaking bad. They have "kayak around tomales bay, and hike to point Reyes" things here. I'll probably go sometime or another, I like to hike, too. Come to think of it, we showered probably a lot more than "truly hearty" chicks would have... probably every other day. Also, our tent was totally macked out and cush, compared to everyone else's. The boys we hooked up with there were like "I wanna stay in your tent!"

I need hot water and a running shower to shave. I can't just splash pond water on my mug and drag a dull razor down my face. I just feel so icky when I haven't been able to shave properly, don't ask me why. I start singing TLC's "No Scrubs" to myself.

Those tents aren't the best place for such matters. (But if it worked, I'm impressed.)

I enjoy hiking too. Come out to KY and we'll hike Natural Bridge park. It's fun.

yeah, you really gotta like camping more than being clean shaven, I guess, to truly enjoy the experience. At least for a few days. I, personally, have never been able to grow much of a beard, so it's not as big a problem. However, I do get very antsy when my hair gets greasy. I "solved" the problem when i went to Yosemite camping by putting my hair in some tight, tight braids. Also, I hate looking ugly, so I'm a bit of a vain camper.

RVs really aren't bad. They're lux compared to tents.

I do not stay in less than a four star hotel if I can help it - Do I strike anyone as the camping type

Interestingly, I did it when I was a boyscout - I hated it then. I like being in the woods and all. I just do not like sleeping in a tent.

When I went down the Amazon in the late 90's, we slept on a boat that would be no stretch qualify as luxury. We had a shower with river water and a toilet, but that is about it. I enjoted it, but wnet straight to the hotel pool and then bathroom once we got back to Iquitos.

It is just not for me.

Not this one. It reeked of butt juice after a few hot, rank days. I felt like I was stewing in a SaniCan.

You can enjoy nature from your hotel room, right?

Yes, it's really the staying in the tent that is the rub, isn't it? On another note, I'm so jeal you went down the amazon. What a fab trip.
