Default Will be missed

I still can't believe he is doing this but I wish him well with whatever he has planned with his life. His talent will be missed. Can't say much for Elton since I think Elton needs some humility in his personal life. Maybe he is just mad because he wanted George for himself

Still remember all the excitement and energy during his show back in 1988 in Frankfurt, Germany. Being short, I was surrounded by tall Germans who were sweating so I dragged hubby towards the stage. haha I used the excuse that I couldn't breathe (which was true since it was hot and people sweating everywhere) and people parted like the Red Sea. I got to be up in front row and actually touched George's boot as he sang by us. haha Good thing most of those fans there were either drunk or high I don't think they really cared if they saw George or not so I ended up near the stage. haha

My 13 year old cousin was humming Eye of the Tiger and I was like, "Did you just see Rocky or something?", she's like, "Wha?", and then she said she downloaded the song. I was like, oh yay, I'm cool! Finally, the 80s get their due. At least the bands then all played their own instruments and sang live and mostly in key.
I laugh at how Empty-vee dumped hard rock/metal (I hate the term "hair metal") for grunge/alternative in the early 1990's, But yet where are all of those bands that Empty-vee had their noses/hands/lips so firmly planted in their chocolate starfish?

Some of the same bands that Empty-Vee deemed as "lame" are still around, Most have enjoyed major success in Europe/Asia where the whole "Flavor-for-the-weak" mentality of the US has never caught on...And love being the underdog to the BS music climate of the US, But the same cannot be said of Empty-Vee's "darling's"...Nearly all of 'em are no longer around and a few members died, couldnt contend with the product of ther machinery that they became (ie-Kurt GO-Bang, I meant Kurt Cobain!)

I am tolerent of the nostalgic trip, as long as you approach sincerely, Not because it may make the youth appear as if they are so "in tune and hip". If they dive in headfirst and swallow it all then I can honestly say that they are not trying to fit in with the lame-as-lint "I'm so f**kin cool" crowd.

Blah, blah, blah.....

I love George and his latest album Patience is really good in spots and uneven in others. But still- stop boo hooing and just make your ****ing music. He's a good songwriter and a great singer- just do it and quit complaining.

All of the albums that he's released on his own have been pretty good product. Even Songs From the 20th Century, the gayest album ever recorded.

Unhappy This is extremely unfortunate

George is one of my favorite voices in music and this sucks that he feels the need to leave. Perhaps, if the music industry turns around within the next few years, he'll change his mind.

Don't get me wrong, I love Elton John and his music. He just needs to come down off his Princess cloud and join the rest of us George loving people When it comes to George Michael, Elton has always been a little unkind and mean-spirited. I figure it is either lust for George or envy of his talent and looks Just my own personal opinion.

Exclamation My opinion on George...

is that he would make a better singer in Queen than Paul Rodgers, Don't get me wrong I like Rodgers voice, But what worked for Free/Bad Company/The Firm/etc just doesnt fit with Queen's style...George Michael on the otherhand would be a perfect fit and could do the songs justice

Solowise, Dude should just record music and use the publicity, Be it good or bad, to his advantage!

What is his problem? Elton was also in the closet for some time. He also had a drug problem and bulimia. Who is he to judge? Why is he being so hypocritical? I hate that sh*t.

I think he was trying to say that if GM had come out earlier then maybe he would not have had to have been in that bathroom. I did not take EJ's words as too harsh as opposed to a statement of reality and, in some ways, a commentary on EJ's life prior to coming out. I personally like EJ's willingness to state his mind even though I may not agree with him or even like him as a person. I think the world needs more people saying things like this - though perhaps in softer tones.

That bathroom is really gross, by the way- and tiny, too. It's in the Will Rogers park across from the Beverly Hills Hotel. I take my dogs for walks there all the time. Why on earth he picked that particular bathroom to cottage in is beyond me.... it is rank.

Um, well hindsight is 20/20 and he was just stating the obvious. Of course GM wouldn't have been caught in the rest area if he had come out, duh. But obviously there was plenty of pressure for him NOT to come out which Elton should understand, IMO.

I know and I do not think EJ was saying anything diff. I think EJ was saying, with personal painful knowledge, that things may have gone easier on GM if he had come out before he was outed in such a bad way. I just do not get where people see a ton on venom in EJ's quote above. But, they do I guess

Ahh, well I didn't see the original quote in context so I took it at face value that it was actually mean spirited which it may not have been.

I think EJ is in ways just a fussy old woman a la Gladys Cravitz (sp.?) on Bewitched. So, he says these things that no one really says and people not being used to hearing them go

I mean who does not know Madonna lip syncs a little in her concerts. But, no one says it. Who does not think the press are like vipers in pursuit of prey - but no one says it too loudly. But, he sure does and he knows the gossip to add to it

I didn't know he did this. GM dude get over yourself! He takes himself way too seriously apparently. And I agree with you, neither pop, nor rock are dead, they're just going through a "phase" so to speak.
