But, that type of respect for people who like her is rarely shown
As one of the people in question (I likened Stevie's voice to Elmer Fudd), I can say I used that description because it was the best thing I could think of to match what her voice sounds like to me. Although some people may have found this insulting (why, i don't know... after all it was directed at Stevie, and as far as I know, she isn't a Ledgie) that really wasn't the intention. I've seen many rather insulting things being stated on these boards about my favorite, Lindsey Buckingham - but rather than getting all upset about it, I either ignore the post or calmly express my disagreement. It seems the logical thing to do.

It conveys the same message, but it wouldn't be as fun to write for them, I guess. But who cares about them, really? I respect their opinions but to attack her for losing her range is pointless, for me. Her voice today is powerful in so many ways, and arrives straight to my soul, and I think to many others too. If they want to go around in the circle of dissing, more power to them. What really means is unattached for me.

aw, I like the woo, and that song in general, though overall I like Chris' songs the least. I think it's subtle, and nice, but I still know what she means.

I don't attack her for losing her range, she did that to herself through years of abuse on her vocal chords. She never knew how to sing and that's what screwed it up. What I do attack her for are her lackluster performances due to her severely diminished range and matronly, immobile stage presence. If I don't think her performances are up to snuff, I'll say so. No one has any trouble complaining when they think Lindsey screams his songs or that his voice is piss-poor, it should be no different for Miss Nicks. It's all a matter of preference.

Not to mention the three-pack-a-day cigarette habit she had for a long time.

It is all a matter of preference - I agree - I don't mind the things you mentioned above - but ya know - some people do

and if I had a buck for every person that has likened Ms. Nicks to a goat in my pressence haha...I don't take this stuff personally anymore

I particularly love how she talked of using cough drops to help her voice. That **** doesn't do anything. And those moisture machines she used? They probably worked for the first song, but that's it. Any singer worth their salt knows that if you want to loosen up your voice, you down a couple tablespoons of olive oil.

I only think she sounds like a goat on the Mirage concert vid. Especially Gypsy, my word. Otherwise, I don't hear it.

Smoking doesn't really effect the sound of your voice as much as it does your breath control. I mean look at Chris, used to be a smoker...it hasn't effected the way she sounds at all! I think you were correct in saying before that Stevie didn't know how to sing correctly and is now paying for it.

Oh, it most certainly does, especially if you smoked three packs a day for as long as Stevie Nicks did. Add to that all the abuse to her chords from singing improperly (she must have thought a diaphragm was simply a contraceptive), snorting all that coke, drinking all that booze, etc. She's lucky she can even talk.

Someone said awhile back that they thought her current voice was just due to aging and nothing else and I wanted to scream.

Putrid vocals. Same with Candlebright, now that I think of it.

I referred to when LB openly wept when explaining to La Nicks how much it meant to him to be able to work with them and her again. I think weeping qualifies as the most emotional scene, esp. considering LB had to walk away because of it.

Besides that... there's nothing I wouldn't give to see him perform live, without Stevie's irritating hand gestures (see "Say You Will" from LIB- I can't decide if she's trying to rope someone in the audience or do the "I'm a Little Teapot" dance) and without Mick's ego-stroking drum and vest solo . . .
Well, talk to him about it as he seems to love her and her performances - in fact, he loves them so much he invited her to be on his solo soundstage performace which I attended - Interestingly, he did not invite John and Mick who were also in Chicago at the time So, apparently, the pacakge deal is not in total demise - much to your apparent chagrain

Tone - jovial - not snarky
