Default Here are a few pics from my new 35mm camera

I took these at a local park in Providence. Not too much to take pics of in this cold weather.

It's only the park that looks pretty. Actually in the warmer weather it is nice here. Lots of activity on the ocean front to take nice photos of but not too much going on right now.

Default whoa...

that red home with the 3 chimineys and the semi-circular bit in the front is GORGEOUS! and that other Big Red Barn type home is neat too...

There is a real difference in Architecture over there, that I appreciate...lots of brick and stone...

EDIT: Ive just done a search for bay area homes and it morphed into a search for particular architects and styles and I discovered that I really like the Arts and Crafts style, the Craftsman Style and especially the Storybook style!
here is a neat pic of a storybook house with a "seawave roof"

there is a house in Chico that has this type of roof. I always called it Wavy Gravy

Wow Pattie! And you were worried about not figuring it out Those are great pics - you're totally on the right track The color is great in them and the composition is also really good - I'm not to knowledgeable about color photography - but those are great!!! I can't wait to see more of your pics!!!

Now it's my turn to b!tch. I have a roll of b&w film to develop, which I WOULD do at school, but I have to use the photographs on that roll for a project due second period. My Photography class? First period.

I decided that I was going to try to have a lab do it, like Cord Camera or the camera shop in the mall, but they have to ship it out to some other place since it's black & white. Meaning I won't get it back for a while.

So now I have to bust my ass trying to get a roll of film developed, dried, contact print'D, and make 4 prints. Then after that I get to mount it all on contruction paper on posterboard.

I'm thinking about just asking my Theory of Knowledge teacher (the class I need this film for) for an extension. I'm pretty sure she'd give it to me, too, since she likes me and this stuff is all out of my control.

I hate my life. -_-

I know it is hard to find a lab that will do a one hour photo for Black and White film. How long does it take to develop them? Maybe your teacher will understand if you tell them that your assignment is located in another part of the school and you are just waiting for it to be developed. Is there anyway that you can get into the photography class earlier and get a head start on the film?

Good luck!

Cool pictures Pattie! Looks like you got everything figured out. I like the one of the park with the lake (pond?) and bridge. I bet you'll get some really great pics come spring and summer. Looks like a beautiful place!

Thanks, It is pretty much automatic so it's easy. It does have manual settings, too. I had to use a few last night when I was taking some night photos. I really had no idea what I was doing. I might have gotten a picture of some kind of a wildcat on the rocks of the beach but I don't know.
I'll won't get the film done until later this week.

OMG! I just got out of my friend's car and I walked just a few feet and I see this thing move to the left of me on the rocks. Then about less then a minute later this big cat came up the rocks almost to the parking lot. I booked it to the car and must have been white as a ghost and my friend saw and of course I tried to snap a photo as it looked right at my camera. I was having a hard time getting the autofocus to work but I did get something and then the cat went back on down the rocks. I am going to be really embarrssed if I did get the shot and it was 'Fluffy" or just some house cat but it really was larger and the fur looked different.

My Dad gets nervous when I go out to take pictures and I could just imagine having to tell him that I had an encounter with a wildcat. That bothered me more then the cat.

That is Roger Williams Casino ( No there is NO gambling there )

Here is a bit about it:

Built in 1896, the Casino at Roger Williams Park stands as a prime example of the importance of historic preservation. its brick exterior and verandas adorned with Ionic columns, semi-circular porticos and railings with turned balusters, epitomize the Colonial Revival architecture of the late nineteenth century.
Designed by Providence architect Edwin T. Banning, the Casino was built with 25 thousand dollars raised by receipts from boat rentals and other amusements in the Park. Conceived as a public space, it originally contained a café in the first floor main area. Cool summer treats were served on the veranda where one can still enjoy a spectacular 40-acre view, including that of the restored Bandstand, which juts into Roosevelt Lake below. The interior walls of the first floor are constructed of hand-finished wood panels, the original maple floors are intact, and details such as beveled mirrors and an emerald green tiled fireplace lend a formal and elegant air to the surroundings.

Upstairs, the Ballroom was used for special social events, especially during the '30's and '40's. This grand room, with it's birch floors, is painted in warm, rosy tones to evoke a sense of well being, a priority during the "Gay Nineties". Plaster friezes and frescoes of cherubs and musical instruments adorn the 20-foot ceilings.

Now completely restored, the park is proud of this unique building which has been host to thousands of special events. We welcome your interest and hope you will consider the Casino at Roger Williams Park when planning your event. Visit and see why the Roger Williams Park Casino truly is The Jewel of Providence.

Default thanx for the info...

I have always been fascinated by nice home, and architectural styles of all kinds....I know my posting that pic was a bit OT, but I was so glad I found it Ive been trying to find a description of that type of roof shingling for YEARS and now that I have, I just had to preserve it for posterity! Sorry about that
