I dunno if I could pick a favourite solo, as I just love his playing, period. The best solo is the one I'm listening to at any given moment, you know what I mean?
He just squeezes a lot of feeling out of that axe. His trademark high note, you know where he bends the string up and holds it for 3 or 4 bars always drives me nuts, in a good way! He does some nice licks on the Tango version of Big Love. I like it at the end where that simple guitar lick becomes more aggressive gradually, symbolising an orgasm perhaps? ![]() |

You know a great solo when you hear one... If you're listening to your ipod whilst walking, you'll notice yourself start to speed up. Happens with me every time I hear The Chain or Go Your Own Way.
I would say I'm So Afraid from the later shows of this tour as well. His improvising and the way he just bangs the **** out of the guitar towards the end is awesome. The solo from the live version of Go Your Own Way on the first Live album has really grown on me as well. It just sounds really out of control. I've been messing about with the Go Your Own Way from the Mirage Video (I like the vocals best on this one), and cut that solo and replaced it with the live album one, and apart from a very slight change in the sound it actually works really well. "Best" is so subjective.
My favorites of his solos with FMac: Live: Rhiannon (1975-1979) Green Manalishi Station Man Oh Well (my least favorite versions of the song are Lindsey's, but the solos are still pretty good) Go Your Own Way I'm So Afraid (1979-1982) Oh Daddy (1997) Big Love Come Studio: Blue Letter I'm So Afraid Say You Love Me Go Your Own Way You Make Loving Fun Sisters Of The Moon Book Of Love (if they just didn't fade the song so quickly) Family Man Isn't It Midnight Tango In The Night Murrow Solo solos: Trouble Shadow Of The West Loving Cup Play In The Rain Countdown Wrong You Do Or You Don't Don't Look Down (intro) This Is The Time

I love lots of 'em but these came to mind...
"Frozen Love" "Gypsy" "Don't Let Me Down Again" "This Nearly Was Mine" "Family Man" (I love the guitar part...it's too bad that the song starts fading part of the way through it since it is the only part of the song that I like). |
