Blackmore's Night is a Renaisance Band with Ritchie Blackmore (Deep purple and rainbow fame) and Candice night (vocals) I just saw them last night in Las Vegas and they did a FANTASTIC show. You should check out their music sometime if you haven't already. http://www.blackmoresnight.com
Anywho....They have a question section on her website and this came up in the questions : Candice I really enjoy all the Blackmore's Night CDs that have been released in America so far. I would not normally listen to that style of music but I find it outstanding. As I type this email, I am listening Shadow Of The Moon. I think your voice sounds a lot like Stevie Nicks. Are you influenced by her? Thanks, Kevin McMahon Hello Kevin, Its funny, a lot of people find that similarity. I am, actually, a very big Stevie fan. Although I have a tendency to believe that most people see the long blonde hair and the skirts and think that is the connection. And for them, maybe it is. I don't look or dress the way that I do because I am a fan of someone...I look and dress the way I do because it is me and I have always been true to my identity. But I have always been charmed by the presence of Stevie Nicks. I love her poetic words and her artwork. I think it is wonderful that she has chosen to keep her "look" so feminine throughout her years in music and that she portrays such a mystical quality. I love the subjects that she chooses to write about in her songs. So, yes, I am influenced in a way- and yet, I believe that we probably draw from similar influences and other worlds. I think we are probably coming from the same place, musically. Only my influences also stem from the visuals of the Renaissance times as well. Always, Candice Now THAT is how Stevie should answer questions......rather than the 5 words answers we have been getting. (Not knocking Stevie, just wishing for longer answers from her) ![]()

![]() I also taped her debate with Gary Coleman. She's actually quite smart and astute, I was shocked.

It's neat how Johanna did the artwork for Blackmore Night albums too - they are cool looking.
I like some of the Blackmore Night songs, but others seem to commercial and trendy rather than mystical or old-time medieval times. But it's different though, a change. I have the first cd that my brother gave me, and have not gotten any of their others yet. He figured I'd like it because Candice did look so Stevie-ish, and because I Love Mists of Avalon, and he likes Blackmore. The cover of that first album that Johannah did, it totally looks like a drawing of Stevie - heh! You can click on it to enlarge it a little at amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...glance&s=music very Stevie looking live pics: http://www.blackmoresnight.com/photos/live/b.html |

I've heard about this band before and have been curious to hear them. Thanks for the link - I'm loving the first song on the audio clips page. And looking forward to hearing Diamonds and Rust since it's one of my all time favourite Joan Baez songs (I'm assuming it will be this same song). Oh, and Candice, hon, it's pretty obvious. And we love her, too! |
