Exclamation Dang!

All these pictures are wicked awesome!! Thanks for posting those! Today, it was about 54 degrees or something, VERY windy this morning and tomorrow it will be in the 40's. Last Valentine's Day, we got like 2 inches of snow...hopefully, this year will yield the same, but the weather has been crazy nuts this winter...even for Texas.

We're about the same. My neighbor just used the snow blower (thrower, whatever) and I didn't realize just how deep it was. Right now we're in a lull but we're getting another 4-6" in a few

Dear Snow,

Please stop. You're really cramping our style.

NO Love,
The Northeast.

Sugar, what state are you in?

Default where I live...

here is the fog in the LITTLE GRAND CANYON on the way down to work in Chico yesterday Fog in Little Grand Canyon
and here is the sky above my neighbor's house Blue Skies in the Mountains

it was a beautiful day today and yesterday, but we had some snow just last weekend! I think youse guys on the east coast are getting our bad weather! So the good news is, you will soon be getting nicer weather (I hope!)

I have a question: all you folks in the regions experiencing snow, do you all have 4WD? also, I hear the snow is different in your neck of the woods...apparently ours is wetter? I dont know I was just taking the word of a friend of mine who lived for several years in the OK NE areas....my daughter who lives 15 minutes away from me (but 1000ft higher) has quite a bit more snow than I do, in fact, all of mine has melted, but there is a good 4-6ft up her way and I have friends who live 1 1/2 hrs away who have even more than that....my first time using 4WD was last winter and I was SCARED! I went down the street and realized I needed 4WD and put it in ok, but didnt know I had to put the transmission back into DRIVE! so I was slipping backwards down a hill and I knew I was in 4WD and boy did I feel DUMB when I found out what I did wrong!

I figured we were pretty close to each other...

Yeah we often take drives up through the central and upper parts of the county, especially along the river. In fact I was planning to earlier today... but I decided not to...

Hi Patti

I am right next door to you in CT so it is definitely snowing here. I hope it calms down as I am not a snow lover. If stays bad until Monday, work will probably shut down but I don't get paid for it which stinks!
Be safe and careful everyone!

I don't have 4WD - many people don't - it's false security or whatever - the jerkiest people on the roads are the trucks and SUV's because they think they can do anything - well I've already seen/heard of many an accident with those dumbasses - it may help you go but 4wd sure isn't going to keep help you with stopping and stuff...

I have done fine thus far in my car - and all the other folks I work with who have lived here for years and don't have 4WD are fine

The snow here is different than what we used to get back home - that was definitely wetter and not as fluffy - though here we did get a bit of wet snow a while ago... I guess there are different kinds of snow and such...which I never knew

On the Weather Channel they said the colder the temperature, the fluffier the snow...

No I don't have 4WD, I have a big rear wheel drive boat. But Deanna's right about 4WD; it's no silver bullet. Actually front wheel drive is usually just fine.

Now my mother has AWD; and I believe that's the shizzle!

Default snow and 4WD and other things

wet snow is different for driving in Im told...but all Ive ever had is wet snow so I guess I'd be learning all over again in "dry" snow...
as for SUV's/4WD and whatnot......I also have chains, and those DO help for stopping. also, it helps to have a bit of common sense and go SLOW (once again for the dumbasses/teenagers/rednecks) SLOW. before I had 4WD and had to use chains, it was a bit harder. mostly I just stayed home. just me and my friends and our vodka or beer or whatever.....we had a roaring fire, a good movie on TV and we were set! who needed to go out in the nasty weather anyway????? not me man! Every winter, you see doofuses stranded on the side of the road becuz they didnt use good sense and they got stuck in a ditch or up against a tree/rock/fence/enter your own obstacle here.......its too funny the stuff the yahoos do.....well, its entertainment value if nothing else...

Okay, we're up to about 8 inches of snow. It's hella windy so all the snow is blowing everywhere...Gah

I HATE driving in the snow...Okay, yes I am 16 with no license, but I hate driving with people in the snow. I was with my friend last time it snowed and we did a complete 180 turn while attempting to stop when it was snowing. After that, I was done. There's a girl that drives me home from Colorguard practice and she has the crappiest car. We skid everywhere. I think I am going to die with her LOL.

Right now I'm sitting inside where it's all nice and warm with shorts and a t-shirt on. No matter how cold and how much snow there is outside I will never retire my shorts

By this afternoon, we had about 10 inches at O'Hare... it looks like about eight of those inches made it to my door. We just had 12 inches about two weeks ago, and now it's back.

I haven't left the house all day- the cars in the parking lot I can see from my window are all buried in about a foot and a half of snowdrifts, and...uh... I drive a Hyundai. I am, however, almost out of smokes and am contemplating walking a half-mile to the 7-11, fortified with a warm belly due to quite a few vodka cocktails. Too bad it's too cold for a Slurpee!!!

Marissa- those pictures were pretty. Snow is so much nicer to look at in pictures than when you're trudging through it with an ice scraper in your hand.
