Thanks!

The other picture from Indonesia is much older, but one of my favorites. It was taken on Sumatra island, the same place where the tsunami hit.

It was a simply unbelieveable time! I spent three months there in the jungles of Sumatra helping a remote village put in a four mile long water pipeline. There were 30 other people in my group. It was very hard work!

We slept in a tent, washed clothes in a bucket and bathed in the river. No kidding! It made me appreciate all the things that we have here. I was so happy just to get home and have a real shower!

The people there were so generous and kind. I feel a personal connection to them and the enormous grief that everyone overthere is suffering right now.

Because they had so little in the way of real material possessions, their families were the core of their universe. To think that entire families were wiped out is too much for many of them to bear, I am sure. Unimaginable grief.

Yep. There is nothing like appreciating the "porcelain god" when you have to dig and squat for 3 months!

Let me tell you something - you REALLY gotta watch what you eat and drink over there . . . some people in my group were really sick!

In fact, every day two different people in my group had to spend the day just filtering water for cooking, cleaning and drinking. It was a huge pain in the ass!

WOW, that truly sounds amazing. I mean not the washing clother and bathing part.
I can't ever or want to imagine the unimaginable destruction that they faced.
