I went for 3 weeks last year. Best trip I've ever taken. Being there during the Christmas season was really awesome too. I've been obsessed with England since I was a kid, so going there last year was a dream come true.

Have fun!

That would make a difference in how many times I would have gone as well. LOL 8-10 hours on a plane...SUCKS. 45 minutes...I can deal.

I adore London during the holidays - it's so Dickens-ish!

It's pretty cold in the UK right now.... I left to walk to work at 8:30 this morning (after just 2 hours sleep due to the Dolphins-Patriots game on tv until 5:30am.. it was worth it!! )

It was totally misty and as I walked along the driveway it looked exactly like the Mac Bare Trees album cover.... Very cool and serene..

cooooool...by the way, have you considered taping the games? Also? I think it's weird that an English guy loves American Football...

Yeah but taping is not real for me... Live action, it has to be live to be real... Otherwise I'll read about it first then not bother watching the tape...

I used to play American Football over here in my more youthful days as a running back... Until I first dislocated three vertebrae in my spine (twisted them 180 degrees and they locked backwards and I was a very lucky chap.. Then I came back and did some severe ligament and tendon damage to my right ankle on turf when I got knocked around by 270 degrees and my foot didn't!! Ouch!!! ) I get reminded of this one every time it gets cold... I need to move to a warmer climate..

I've been into the sport since I saw my first game on tv in 1983.. The first team I saw were the Dolphins and so thats where my annual December depression started!

The two of us shall then sit there awkwardly for a few minutes as we wonder if that was what all the fuss was about. I then resume awkward small-talk which will be spoken too fast, too slow, too high, too low, or generally just be wrong.

The two chums will then sit down for some food. I'll be asked how much I'd like, to which I'll respond "just a small bit of turkey please", and proceed to have a giant ****load dumped on my plate. I'll spend the rest of the day either moaning with a bucket and being cursed at for spoiling the day, or just being cursed at for not magically expanding the size of my stomach for the occasion. Then the Queen will say something about what a memorable year it has been, as my father forces me to get in the pool because he's hot. But before that can happen I'll shut the gate incorrectly and be forced back inside to think about what I've done. On my way back to the house I'll thank the Lord that he was born on this day (or that someone marked it in as this day) so that I could spend it with my alone like this with my father. Then I'll take some valium and I forget what happens after that.

I shall be looking forward to it.
My, my, your Christmas sounds even better than Diss'

Ah, I hear ya. I can't believe your injuries. Football is so heinous that way. I hope my theoretical son never wants to play. Geez, it practically sounds like you're lucky you lived! Or should i say, we're lucky?

Anyone else's family spending Christmas day at the fire station with their dad, or is that just me?

My dad said I could bring Mufasa so now I am kind of excited! My dad has a ****zu so it will be interesting to see how my cat and he get along. They're about the same size!

Yes it's a tough sport but the mentality over here is that it's a sissy sport "because they wear pads"

Yeah right... Unlike soccer where they fall over as if they were shot with the slightest scuffed shin...

Haha, yes go on... Massage my ego again....

Right..... I have a second occupation for you amber... After I awarded you the title of a "random observationalist" yesterday, today I'm appointing you my "personal ego masseuse" It's a full time position and you have to praise me at any given opportunity OK?
