I really love singing but I have horrendous stage fright. One time I was singing karaoke and forgot the words to Stand f-ing Back. I couldn't believe it. I also couldn't read the words cuz my brain was frozen with fear.

However, in more recent years I have become a little more comfortable so now I can at least get the words out up there. I recently did Soak up the Sun while out with Mom and the aunts, I had a good time with it, it's a fun song anyway. But my higher register was blown out from screaming for everyone, plus you can still smoke in NH and it was smokey. However, when I was done my Mom said, "You did good and you looked so pretty up there."

At home I like to sing, and in the car. I haven't been singing all that much lately. I could never be a singing star because of my panic and the fact that my voice is somewhat delicate, I don't think it would hold up very well on tour. But still, that was a dream of mine for a long time. Perhaps I will sing publicly at some point but it's okay that I won't be a star.

I've had people compliment me on my singing al ot of times. I was asked to sing with a singer friend of mine but she was too crazy to be able to follow through. And I was too crazy to do it on my own. I had a friend tell me I HAD to sing, what was I doing? That was very flattering. Once I got to sing Dreams with a band at a party, that was a total trip. They knew the harmonies and sung along and that's when I could relax and enjoy. Later on my friend said it totally brought him back to high school and listening to that song with his friends, it was such a trip! I really enjoy singing with others.

Last year I got a karaoke machine for Christmas and it has been so much fun!

Sorry for the term paper here but I am passionate about this subject, having been a closet singer for 18 years!

I never ever sing along to songs. I don't know why, either.

I did try Karoke with a few other people from work one night. We sang "Feel Like a Woman" it was kind of fun ,too. I had people tell me that I sounded good and I looked like a real performer up there. LOL OK whatever.
I would never do it alone however.

I use to be in the choir in middle school but that was many years ago.

Amber, dear, have you seen Birth? Kidman AND Bacall couldn't save that dog. You could see the microphones and crewpeople in several scenes, the editing was so horrid. Kidman's stock has fallen.

No. I rarely see kidman movies on purpose. I can't believe you could see the mics and crew people! And i think I said that, since my scenes were cut from our movie, it tanked...

Well, thank God! They replaced all of your scenes with dribble like that five-minute shot of her husband running and then eventually dying. You made the right choice by dumping that project, Ms. Ghidossi.

I hate to change the topic, but here's a really brief question: When it comes to Stevie songs (esp. Stand Back), do you twirl when you sing along? I do, I admit that (I can't IMAGINE how I must look) No doubt lots do, this being The Ledge and all

Great, five minute running, dying shots. Sounds enthralling.
That's too bad, i thought that movie would be better. But i meant, a different theoretical movie i was in with them... uh, Strand said they cut all my scenes, then i said, that's why the movie tanked, etc. It was stupid at the time...

I don't twirl, cause i'm not very good at it. plus, my frontroom is small. I mainly sing my ass off, and make pained, tortured faces. But I dip/swirl/dance/splay my skirt along with the gypsy video...

Why is this not hard to picture at all?

Basically, when I sing along (by myself or in kareoke type situations), I always try and do the moves Stevie did on stage. Yes, I have studied the Red Rocks DVD Geez, maybe I AM gay?

Well, did that pic of the guy with abs that Tower posted give you a fire in your belly. If so, it may be time to reassess

Also, I think dancing wildly if not in a frenetic way to La Nicks is not a sign of sexual identity - I think the Nicksian moves transcend gender identification

Only if you sleep with men. gotta hand it to ya, when i'm dancing, the booty just takes over...prescripted moves take a lot longer...

What in the hell did I just walk into??? Ahhh...sorry Diss but I think Jason kicks your fabulous coin-bouncing booty as far as celebrity goes He'll sing his ass off to anyone at any time, any place (sober and drunk). I was even serenaded on my birthday

I've been singing for years and years. I've been in a few musicals and have received a few awards. The choral teacher I had in high school wanted me to try out for All State but I ended up with bronchitis and so that went out the window (thank God...I hate NJ All State). As far as pursuing it full time as a career, I have no ambition to be a solo artist at all. I think being a backing vocalist would be the most amazing career ever and I love to write songs so I wouldn't mind writing for other people...but then again i'm not sure how i would feel hearing someone else sing my words :shrugs:

Nah that doesn't mean a thing.

That's awesome...anyway...

Back to the original topic - I love to sing. I am constantly singing - my family always tells me to shut the hell up I think my voice sounds a bit like Bono, except of course I don't have the range. When he hits the really high notes it's not happening for me. LOL. I also have quite a bit of vibrato when I sing - I don't know if this is from singing along with Stevie and subconciously imitating her, or if it's natural

I would LOVE to sing in a band, but I'm a chicken.

I do a little Stevie dancing on the side if I'm by myself. But not TOO much.
