Seeing Stevie w/ Chris Isaak Tonight!!

joe68 · #1 09-23-2004, 02:26 PM

I just got tickets to see this show tonight. Pretty cool, considering I saw the Soundstage with Lindsey last year. Stevie is literally feet away from the stage. Hopefully, this time she'll look at the audience.

Whoo hoo!!! Yea for me!!!

Here is a quick recap:

Stevie was the last special guest who came out. She looked absolutley radiant. I won't go into it, but the woman refuses to age. Utter gorgeous...

She sang "Santa Claus is coming to town" and her part rocked. Chris Isaak really needed her part up there, I like Chris, but these rollicking Xmas songs really put the crowd to sleep at times. Stevie wore the same outfit she wore when she sang "Silent Night" with Tom Petty on the that Special Olympics special a couple of years ago. They sang the song three times and then Stevie left the stage.

Stevie then joined all the singers for the grand finale of "Rudolph". She sounded so sweet. Her vocals on both songs were very fluttery and she really used her upper register. I am amazed at what a good singer she is in such a intimate setting.

One funny part came at the end when Chris brought his dog out on stage and gave it to Michael Buble to hold during the last song. He literally carried the dog like a sack of potatoes and then finally put the dog down, which ran right off the stage. The sight of Stevie bending down in her heels calling, "Here Rodney" was a hoot. She really looked like she was having fun and it's obvious she really enjoys Chris' company and sense of humour.

The studio said it will air on Dec 2. DOn't miss it!

Thanks, Joe! Sounds like it was a great show, can't wait to see it.

I don't remember what Stevie wore for her Silent Night thing. Was it black? LOL Or was it more holiday-ish?

That's cool. Chris is a hilarious person with a great personality. I could see those two totally hitting it off.

I SO wanted to be there to see this taping!!!! Stevie and Chris have been friends since, I think, the 70's - it is ashame IMO that they have not done more together. I cannot WAIT to see this!!!!!! Thanks for the review Joe!!!!

Thanks a lot Joe for the report, it must have been an awesome show (especially the parts with Stevie

). I'm glad she had such a good time with Chris, it seems their voices and personalities fit together very well.

I can't remember either - I think it was black. I remember seeing a pic of the rehearsal for that & she had on PANTS

I was so excited, thinking that was what she was going to wear for the actual taping, but she didn't.

Paula

Edit: Just checked Nicksfix.com - it was black, but sparkly! Click on "photos", then click "Very Special Christmas 2000 White House"

Actually, it was also the same outfit she wore on the Blockbuster Awards when she sang "Fall From Grace" with Sheryl Crow. A black top with a silvery pattern.

I didn't know Chris has been around that long. When was his first album released?

I think it must be this (god-awful) number. What a shame that a woman can be so ageless and beautiful but doesn't have a clue about personal style.
