I was the one who taped both the '83 "Afterview" thing & the '85 phone call for fans' collections. Any more Jim Ladd on-air stuff?
David,

I remember one where he was on her couch and Lori and Sharon were there with her. The were trying to speak French, i.e. enchanted. I was really young at the time.

I do not think we are being fair to Stevie. She knows youth sells - period. So, of course she is, rightfully IMO, pusing for the retouches. But, people I guess will never see it that way

BUT - La Harry and crewe gave a GREAT show despite it!!!!!!!
I didn't know that we were discussing tour attendance. I don't think the size of the venue has much to do with how much someone tours and long they do it for.

As for the hiatus, it was three years. No longer than Stevie's between Timespace and Street Angel. Or Street Angel and The Dance.

On another note - I have been listening to War Child all week; I can't get enough of it. SUCH a fantastic song.

Yup. The Wind In the Willows and The Stilletoes, dating back to '66.

The lady next to me at the Los Angeles benefit even said (into my recording equipment): "Didn't she put a little weight on?"

From that point on, she never looked like the girl on the cover of "Bella Donna" again. Although there's another anomaly: the early part of the tour in 1990. How did Stevie look like an aerobics instructor again from the waist down (even if it only lasted for a few months)?
I always kind of think of this as - A)She's almost 40 and B)Most people bloat up like the Dickens when they quit coke....

I brought up size because it always matters

Seriously, I think it is more stressful to walk out in front of 10,000 than 500 to 1,000 - not to mention the televised stuff. That is where I was coming from with that - but other than that I cannot say it matters other than in rev., etc.

I could care less if she has 'em done. If I looked like **** in some spots and could afford to have the shots retouched, I'd do it.

This whole discussion stems from whether Stevie is hot or not. I say not, but she's still a VERY beautiful woman. But don't show me a retooled photo or one where she has enough pancake make-up on to make IHOP jealous in order to prove how "hot" she is.

True - retouches are dispositive of nothing IMO. But, some of those candid ones are pretty hot. I think to be hot, she would have to drop 20-25 pounds. But and again, if she is happy I am happy and I think she is still very beautiful - just not white hot like in the late 70's and early 80's - so be it.

We love you Stevie no matter what your weight!!!!!!!

I thought she looked pretty haggard without the lift, esp. around Maria (WHICH I LOVE!!!!) - but she has lead quite a life and looks great for her age IMO !!!!!!

It's not the size of the ship that counts, it's the motion of the ocean.

I think it depends on your level of comfort. If you have stage fright and a lack of self-confidence, it doesn't matter if it's four people or forty thousand people. Plus, it helps if you're coked out of your gourd. j/k

I thought she looked gorgeous around the time of Maria for some reason. It was only about a year after it died down that she started looking quite haggard, but still not in her late fifties, IMO.

For a true measure of how hot Deb was in '99, watch the "Blondie Live" DVD. No retouches or anything and she looked smokin'.

She always had that kind of smoky look - Pat Benatar had it as well - it was kind of a tough chick look.
