You saw it, too?!?!?!

I think I can easily call it the worst film ever made. I'm sitting there watching it and just wondering if anyone read the script before they signed the contract. Al Pacino all dressed up and cruising leather bars is laughable enough, but hot damn, this movie took it all to another level. I had to stop watching temporarily when the guy started to grease his fist up. Sorry, but that was just a vile film! And that ending?! WTF was that?!

OMG, I saw that movie as a youngster - 16 or so. Yikes. What a heap of crap it was. I recently watched it again, and it is very, very bad. The director really made a piece of anti-gay propaganda. Even though that world - minus the murders - actually did exist in NY at the time.

Pacino is a mess and so is Chris Noth. Drunks.
BTW, Angels in America drove me bat****. It had some great moments and Streep was of course excellent. But, Damn it was didactic and heavy handed.
Preachy preachy preachy. Well, that's Theatre for ya.
About one hour into it, the characters stopped talking to each other and were basically ranting political hoo ha into the air. Overblown and over-rated.

It's shocking when you consider that it was made by the same guy who directed The Exorcist. The original cut was supposedly XXX worthy.

Sometimes you really do fall from grace.

I couldn't stand it, either, though Miss Thompson looked radiant. The first hour was good, but it really went downhill quickly.

I loved every minute of Angels in America.

Star's chinchilla - very non-PC! She kept saying it was a summer chinchilla. Whatev. And I cracked up whenever someone told her she looked thin.

Tiff- she wore 2 different outfits during the pre-show - you probably only saw the first one...

Joely Richardson looked hot - and I also loved Teri Hatcher's dress.

Pacino always babbles on - I guess the director of the Emmys is a fan - you don't cut off the great Al!! I thought he looked hot - definitely better than at the Golden Globes!

Chris Noth needs those Samsonites under his eyes removed.

But, yes, she is great and I wish another great part like in "Casino" would happen for her.

Also, who do y'all think was drunker Al Pacino or Chris Noth Pacino looked like someone picked him up off of the street and put him in a tux that was too large for him - AND THAT HAIR
I think La Stone is best in B movies, cause she's that level of actress (I love her) and please do bring up Diaboloque, as my VERY FAVORITE actress is also in that stinker giving a bad performance!!! still, i've watched it a few times....Plus, Kathy Bates and Chazz Palmintieri and even...Spalding Gray!!!

Probably because it sunk like rock. It was made in either 79 or 80. You can get all the particulars on IMDB. They still show it on cable. That's where I stumbled onto it a few months ago.

Here's a synopsis of the movie. It came out in 1980, and as dissention said, it was directed by William Friedkin:

Perhaps the most controversial film of its time due to its portrayal of homosexuality, the story follows a cop as he enters Manhattan's gay scene in search of a psychotic killer.
A sadistic serial killer is targeting New York's gay community and, in response, the NYPD sends rookie cop Steve Burns undercover to find the killer. Burns, who is straight, poses as a homosexual and enters the world of gay S&M sex clubs, learning their rules and mores as he goes along. But as Burns arduously tracks down the murderer, he finds himself growing attracted to these clubs and the gay lifestyle, forcing him to question -- and possibly confront -- his own sexual identity.

At the beginning of the film is a disclaimer: "This film is not intended as an indictment of the homosexual world. It is set in one small segment of that world which is not meant to be representational of the whole." Actor Edward O'Neill who plays Detective Schreiber, went on to achieve fame in television playing Ed Bundy in the sitcom "Married with Children." "Cruising" sparked protests from gay activist groups, who felt that the film depicted gay people in a bad light. Paul Morrissey, the director of such Andy Warhol vehicles as "Trash" and "Heat," was the first filmmaker to express interest in bringing the Gerald Walker novel to the big screen. He had intended to shoot the film in the summer of 1973, but his plans fell through and he made his Frankenstein and Dracula movies instead. Shot in Greenwich Village and New York City.
