Well, I went yesterday. I was actually a volunteer and had to get there 5-6 hours before the event. I was escorting local media and handicap accessible people to their positions. Which gave me an awesome seat 20 feet away from my president! Some other cool things first...I made friends with this secret service lady, and she was telling me about her job, and all the things that go allong with it (very neat). Now the rallly was held at an arena here that is barely used since a newer opened 4 blocks away. They completely filled the lowerbowl and the floor with supporters.

As far as people who were given tickets to the event...Well, the tickets had to be picked up at the Bush Cheney offices around South Florida. I know some of my Republican friends recieved phone calls to see if they wanted to attend. By the day of the event, the tickets were gone. There were a fairly medium sized group of Kerry protesters outside, sometimes having it out with pro-Bush supporters.

As far as the speech goes. I gotta say that he honestly impressed me. Even I had some doubts as to how he would sound live and in person, but I think he comes out worse of television. We heard that Democrat Senator guy (from Georgia) introduce Laura Bish and then Laura introduced the President. He talked about alot of things....probably close to 45 minutes. He discussed the war and how he would still do the same thing today if he had to. He discussed the economy, corporate scandal, and of course Cuba. Since the Cuban-american population really could give Bush the state of Florida, he really hammered down the topic.

Funny things: Bush speaking Spanish...enough said He said alot of things in Spanish....he mentioned Jeb his "hermanito" (brother) wasn't here. He then said about Kerry's voting habitis "voto si, despues voto no" (I vote yes, then I vote no)

Overall a good time, and I gotta say I'm happy I'll be voting for him. (insert every other Ledgies replies here, LOL)

My only question is: After you went to the thing, did you come home and research the things he said to be sure that he wasn't lying (again)? What did he say? That the economy was in full swing (Lie #1)? That Iraq was going well (Lie #2)? That Castro has made an economy out of prostitution (Lie #3)? That he wasn't involved with the Swift Boat Vets (Lie #4)? That Saddam had the capabilities to manufacture WMDs (Lie #5)? Did he launch into a tirade against corporate scandal, even though he's involved at the highest levels (*cough*Enron*cough*)?

Seriously, what did the man say? I'm glad that the Florida polling shows Bush losing favor, though, especially form the Cuban-American vote. His policies against Cuba have backfired.

PS: Zell Miller from Georgia is NOT a Democrat.

Actually...no, I don't. But I am fond of you, even though you've been brainwashed by the dark side.

You should have asked Bush why he didn't implement the anti-terror policies formt he Clinton administrationt hat could have saved over 3,000 lives on September 11, 2001. Or why he refuses to take action against the Sudanese governemnt and its mass genocide. Or why $8 billion in oil revenues is missing in Iraq.

Bush's Cuban-American support slips: He won 81 percent of the group's vote in South Florida in 2000, but some are switching sides because of tighter travel restrictions.

By TAMARA LUSH and DAVID ADAMS
Published August 27, 2004

MIAMI - Standing in line Thursday for her charter flight to Havana, Zaida Fuentes fumed as she thought about President Bush's tougher restrictions on travel to Cuba.

"It's not right," she said of the new rule allowing Cuban-Americans to visit their families on the island once every three years instead of once a year. "Everybody has the right to see their family."

The tighter restrictions have created cracks in the once rock-solid support among Cuban-American voters for President Bush, who will hold a campaign rally today in Miami. Most Cuban-American voters still back Bush, but polls indicate his support has slipped since he won 81 percent of South Florida's Cuban-American vote in 2000.

The president has lost Fuentes. A lifelong Republican, the 57-year-old retiree has changed her party affiliation to Democrat. She plans to vote for Democratic U.S. Sen. John Kerry in November.

"The crowd at Friday's rally was adulatory, but nearly half of the arena was empty, even after the Bush campaign went on Spanish radio to push the free tickets."

It doesn't look good for Bush in Florida.

The tighter travel policies have divided so many Cuban-Americans....Its wierd, because I used to want no money to reach the Cuban gov't, but at this ppoint, that wont really topple the Castro regime....We just have to wait for Castro to die.....waiting......still waiting....

....waiting.....

As far as Florida polls go....last month, Bush was down 6 points....2 weeks ago 3 points....yesterday, even split.....This race is going to be very interesting, and I'm willing to bet Florida will go to Bush in Nov.

Sure, I'll bet you five bootlegs that Kerry wins Florida.

However, if Bush is declared the winner and it's reported that tens of thousands of black voters were disenfranchised (again), I won't send you a thing. I still remember the flyers that were passed out to black voters in Florida in 2000:

"URGENT NOTICE
Come out to Vote November 6. Before you Come out to vote- Pay your parking tickets, motor vehicle tickets, your rent, and most important, ANY WARRANTS."

That 17 point drop in Cuban support is looking pretty good from where I'm sitting.

Now now now.....electoral votes, nice try. So, where should I send my list of demanded bootlegs?

A 17 point drop in Cuban support has put this race at a dead heat in Fl....dont go counting your chickens just yet....

I refuse to send any if black voters are disenfranchised on such a large scale again, my friend.

And be serious. Do you honestly think that Bush will recuperate from such huge losses in Floridian support over the past year? I submit that he cannot because he's been trying to do just that over the past year, without any success. His brothers new antics are only making matters worse. I'm still shocked at what that ass is doing to people who want their voting rights restored. And believe you me, Jeb and his cronies will abuse the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) like there's no tomorrow.
