I went to get some prints made from some of the pics I took on the SYW tour with my digital camera. I don't have a photo printer yet. I have taken them everywhere from CVS and Walgreens to Ritz Camera. The very top of the pics (like Lindsey's head) gets cut off. The lab person at CVS told me that it is because my photo is actually a bit larger then 4x6. I could edit the photo to capture the top but I lose some of the bottom of the picture. It is very annoying.
Does anyone know how to fix this and if I do buy a photo printer will I have the same problem? Any info would be helpful. |

Well what I did with my SYW tour photos is had many of them blown up to 8x10. i was front row and the quality was fantastic on quite a few of them. Anyways...I was running into the same problem (ala the cropping). The photo printer-guys told me that 8x12 is technically "full frame" for a negative print. So I had all of them printed in 8x12 and then just cropped them accordingly. I would imagine the same concept applies to 4x6 pics.

I guess that's what the photo guy at CVS said that the full frame would be like 4 1/2 by 6 3/4 or something like that. I just don't know if there are photo printers at a store or to use at home that are going to print the whole frame. It is very annoying I feel that I should not have to waste time at CVS or at home to fix these prints. I don't want to go and by a photo printer and have the same problem. It just seems odd that cameras take a pic in a large frame then the printers actually print out. Another words I feel like I am getting ripped off. I gave some of my Say You Will photos to a special friend of mine and I was just upset that they were not 100% of my actual photo. |
