Default Nostalgia

Looking the pics of the recent concerts, I found (specially LB & SN) they are getting older. The difference with their 1997 look is evident. It happens similar when I see recent Chris videos.

Hey, this has nothing to do with the look, or if it's a must to look good and well shape. It's just that... my heroes are getting older (children get older, I'm getting older too).. and.. sooner or later there will be an end of the road. Our heroes will retire (though is difficult to imaging Stevie or Mick retiring). How long will Fleetwood Mac be in action?

When I look those pics i feel kind of nostalgic, the good days may be finishing in few years, is the circle of life, the wheel of fortune. Everything changes in this world. The only thing that never changes, is the change itself. And nothing last forever (..but the earth and sky..?)

Well I don't know.... to me Stevie looks much older now then she did last year on the first leg of the tour. I think it is her new haircut. She looked more youthful to me without bangs. Or it could be that she is sick (I don't know if it is rumour or fact). She just looks like she has aged several years since just last summer. I'm sure all this touring just has her worn out.

I prefer Stevie without the bangs, too. And you're right, the Mac does look older than on The Dance --- seven years ago.

But as long as the band is healthy & active, I don't care about how old they look. (As long as Stevie doesn't dress old. ) I don't see ANY of them retiring until they have to, to be honest. Even if they took a break from touring, the songwriting is in Stevie's & Lindsey's blood, and I could definitely see Lindsey in particular getting more out there to produce albums for younger performers. And Stevie continues to bond to the younger performers as well. She's an icon & will never be marginal again in this lifetime as long as she stays off the bad stuff.

To me there's something comforting in watching these heroes age & still rock out. I don't look at them and see them in their twilight. I just feel lucky to be alive at a time when I can see them live & take note firsthand of every change they seem to go through.

As they say, aging is better than the alternative.

The first rock generation is getting old.

We lost so many but there will be a world without Paul and Ringo, without Mick and Keith and without Stevie and Lindsey and Christine and Mick and John....so sad.

I can't imagine when I am 50 and my Rock gods are gone. It will be sad. I guess my generation ( 20's) will be the first to grow old without the first rock gods of the 20th century!

It is sad. Thanks!!

I guess I think of Elvis & Buddy Holly & company as the first rock gods, but I don't mean to knock your point.

I think it's important to note though that most people do look older (or at least different) after 7 years.

I hope the adventure goes on a bit longer, they have to come to Australia at least one more time, because I don't know how I could handle it knowing I had never seen my favourite band perform live.

I'm guessing we may see another solo album from both Lindsey ( ), Stevie and Chris and one more Mac album hopefully in 2007, let them finish gracefully and in good form. I would love to think that if ITM does well maybe it could be enough to convince Chris to do one more round with the team but really they have all had a tough life and deserve some peace now, I still think they all look and seem pretty healthy for their age (which must annoy a lot of oldies given their excessive lifestyle ).

I don't want to think too much about the future it gets me too upset I just have my fingers crossed for one more round.

I think the opposite, I think she looks younger with bangs.

Great, I started tearing up reading this...To me, Stevie did look extra tired, I hope she is all right. A good part of the reason why I made sure to have front row for this concert (the only Mac ones i've ever seen) is because i feared I may not get the chance to see them again, and I wouldn't have forgiven myself. I often wish I was a generation older so that I may have spent more time with them (although, of course, it's great to be as young as possible) but you know what i mean. I can't imagine what i'll do when any of them retire... specially Stevie...

I was thinking about this "getting older" issue and I always feel sad about it. I know that when I get older they won't be around anymore and that is jusplain depressing . So I'd rather think of other stuff like the tour (you always have such great photos!), Christine's new album, ...

John and Mick certainly look their ages, but Lindsey and Stevie sure as hell don't. I don't think either of them look a day over 45. Lindsey especially, that is not the face of man in his mid-fifties, just as that is not the face of a woman approaching sixty.

As long as they continue to make great music and are healthy enough to tour, I'll be happy. The end of the road is eventual, but we've had thirty years of fantastic music.

But- we shouldn't write them off anytime soon. I think they've got a good ten years left in them, at least in the studio. I alos think that once they stop recording new material, the vaults will finally open and we'll get a wealth of unreleased stuff.

They're going to want some sort of cash flow (or any flow at that age).

Well that's my point. I totally disagree from the very last pics I have seen (San Jose).
Suddenly they look in their 50s!! Don't mean it's un-cool, not at all. But I just thought in that moment.. oops! time passed, it's a scientic fact! even my heroes can't avoid it! And I got the blues

Yeah, but everyone has unflattering photos that make them look older and worse than they do in person. Also, don't forget the camera adds ten pounds and ameks every imperfection clearly visible.

I have pictures of myself where I look like a burnt-out fortysomething...and I'm only in my twenties.
