Nope, not anamorphic.
It was astounding to watch this on PBS-HD and see what could have been. The show looked incredible in high def, even though there was only an hour of it on PBS-HD here in Alabama. At least they left the DVD in widescreen, preserving at least the shape of the way it was shot. Some of the composition is very nice. These were obviously people who have shot 1.78:1 material before and know how to use the frame. But having to zoom for 16:9 sets reduces the resolution even more. You and I may be the only ones on this board that care about this, though. I brought it up earlier and there were several people upset it was letterboxed. ~JamieSPC |

I have a 17" LCD widescreen HDTV and it appeared the concert was broadcasting from the DVD player to it in that format. I am not the most tech. advanced person, but they did not look squatty which is what happens when something not in that format is shown on the widescreen

Warner Bros. was one of the earliest proponents of anamorphic enhancement for widescreen TVs, and since LIB was shot hi-def it certainly would have benefitted from it. But it definitely is not. I wish it were. ~JamieSPC |

It does ruin it a tad, especially when u have a nice plasma to watch it on and it doesn't fill the full screen, I have the same problem with a lot of the movies. Especially with a plasma screen though it is annoying because the bars at the top and bottom of the sreen burn in and take ages to go away.

I wish there was some petition to get them to stop releasing films on DVD in full screen. Everyone will have to upgrade to widescreen HD in a few years anyway...what's the point??? Rob ![]()
