As I'm sure you read in this thread, it's not without its flaws, but I still think it's a good book to own.

I'm lucky in that I eat up those kinds of things, so I'm sure to be pleased no matter what type of bonus tracks they include.

when "Mirage" is reissued just as to finally have a copy without the annoyingly low volume level that the current cd suffers from...Am I the only person who has this problem?

My copy is the same...have to turn it up about 5 notches more than any other CD I own.

Any bets that "Cool Water", "Goodbye Angel" & "Teen Beat" are among the bonus tracks?

Yeah, well it's not that I wouldn't stick to my opinion when posting (as you know I do) but it just becomes a hard decision as to whether I should post or not if the "other person" tries to say I said THEY said things that they didn't (which I didn't). This then prolongs the process and as a result, posting, which should be a fun experience, becomes work, as you try and stay on track with the discussion only to find out that they were "offended" by me just stating my opinion, wanting them to simply respect my opinion (like you say, it's something we all want) and trying to respect theirs (as I never wanted them to "think like me" but I guess differing with their opinion was upsetting in some way).

Anyways, not to worry, I will "do just that" and I won't be a stranger very soon, and thanks again for the compliments (blush).

I'm hoping this theory of yours is right, I guess now that I think of it, I do hope they include the original album mix of "I know I'm not wrong" on the "Tusk" CD reissue but anyways, I just hope they don't mess with the mix on the remastering, thus putting together a NEW mix but passing it off as a "single mix" (or a different "version" as said before).

The cardinal sin is if they pull an Ozzy Osbourne and rerecord drums and bass and stick those on the remastered CD's rather than leaving the original rhythm tracks "as is", but I'll stop giving Mick some ideas here and end this post now and I'll just hope justice is done on these remasters.

Not that it matters with the remasters coming "soon" (hopefully of the other FM CD's such as "Mirage" etc.) but I think this "quiet CD syndrome" that "Mirage" suffers from is only present in the US copies, as I got one from the UK and though it doesn't exactly blast my doors off, it's definitely an improvment on the US version of the current CD issue of "Mirage", if that's of any help to anyone.

Thanks Sharon and yeah, and I know what you mean, it's like they've changed their mind about what they liked about the recordings when they originally released them and want to go back and "change history" or something but whatever, hopefully our beloved recordings escape this kind of treatment unscathed.

Sharon, finally someone else who notices the difference and dislikes the result! I know I`m not wrong was one of my favs on the vinyl and I was really disappointed by the CD version...

As for the Mirage CD, if there will be one... Teen beat is not really a song imo. It`s a fragment, an idea to play around with a la try and error. They better leave things like that out because to me it will cheapen the remaster CD. If they really have finished songs to chose I will be happy to see them included and as we have seen with Silver springs (compared to some songs that finally made it on the original) there could be some fine things in the shelves. However- concerning the large number of new tracks mentioned... I too believe that there simply will be alternate versions from the already existing and published songs f.e. IKINWRong in both versions and so on. I will be the first one to state happily that I was wrong when it`s different...

This is incredible news to hear after so many proposed release days and setbacks. Problem is, now I need to find a way to get the money for these reissues. What to do?

Anyway, I'm just excited to hear what is going to be on the Tusk reissue. I mean, I've been praying so long for them to do something special with "Brown Eyes," and there has to be with 21 extra tracks!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I'm so excited.

When I first got my copy of the 'Mirage' CD, I thought there was something wrong with it, so I took it back and exchanged it.
Boy, was I disappointed when I realized that it was just poorly transferred.

A while back, I downloaded a program called MP3Gain, and I used it to "remaster" 'Mirage' and burn my own copy.

It actually sounds pretty great, and will definitely suffice until Rhino gets around to an official release.

(By the way, that program is fantastic when you want to make compilations... with just a few simple steps, you can adjust the volume levels on the various tracks, so your disc has a cohesive sound.)

Hey there, David!

No, your mp3s will still play thru whatever you have set as your default player (I use WinAMP).

To use MP3Gain, find wherever on your PC you have it saved, and open it. (If you haven't already, you'll have to run the install.)

Once it's open, you should see a screen similar to the one in the pic I've attached below (You may have downloaded a more recent version than mine, which is why I said "similar").

Once you have that up, you shouldn't have too much trouble going from there.
You just click Add Folder, to open an entire folder's worth of music (which of course you have to point the program toward, using the Browse For Folder), or you can click Add Files and then pick and choose which ones you want to work on.

The only thing I recommend doing initially, is maybe trying it out on just a few tracks, after having created backup copies of them on your hard-drive.
That way you can test which target volume suits you best. Once you've decided on that, you won't have to bother with backup copies, etc.

MP3Gain's default "normal" volume is 89.0, but I've set mine for 94.0.

So, can I drag my whole Kazaa folder into that (600+ items), or will that not work?
If I'm burning a cd, do I put the songs in MP3Gain folder, then drag them to the cd to be burned?
