You're wrong. Can you see 30yo Lindsey BEGGING to get back in the band? He would have NEVER done that.

And he can stay as active SOLO as he wants to be, playing to small crowds. Tell me he doesn't have plenty of money.... he wants to go out on top. In what would/will be a pathetic geriatric version of the band of my life.

Did I mention that you're wrong?

oh make no bones about it....he wants to be and loves being a rock star.

his definition of that is different than Stevie's but he loves the big life.

Mick hit the nail on the head in the Destiny Rules doc when he had that discussion with Lindsey where LB went on about how he didn't care about how many copies the album would sell as long as he got to make his artistic vision...and then later Mick is talking to one of the crew (I think it was Ray Lindsey) and saying that he (Mick) does not for one minute believe that Lindsey wouldn't be upset if the album didn't sell. Mick called out Lindsey for comparing himself to a film director who makes films that are great but don't sell a lot. Mick cracked that unlike that director Lindsey would NOT be happy in a one bedroom apartment in Pacoima. And Mick was right. Lindsey lived/lives a very very rich person life. His homes are LUXE. And he's made very lucrative real estate investments in LA over the decades.

What he wants from FM isn't the money as much as the prestige, the success, to still be a "player" in the biz, to be recognized for his musical genius..... to cement his legacy with a big blowout and not a quiet fading away. And he wants to compete with Stevie, always has.

I saw Lindsey's solo tour in 2018 and I was in the front row. He played so incredibly hard and sweat was coming off him like crazy. His facial expressions were like nothing I saw from him before. It was almost if he was an unknown auditioning to join a band or something. To say he gave 110% would be an understatement. He was playing for just a few hundred fans and he was thriving off the audience. Long story short......I don't know when it happened but Lindsey really gets off on being a rock star. Yes in the past he hated the machine and performing for the masses may not have been his thing. He said he much preferred the studio. But SYW and beyond Lindsey is a different man than he was in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

It’s the kids.
When you’re a parent it changes your perspective, your measure of success and what your goals are. I have no doubt Lindsey wants to be big for his kids. I think he especially changed when he became a family man

Yes, my idea of a star more or less coincides with the image Stevie used to project. That is to say, beyond promoting his albums on the Letterman show or similar, I don't remember seeing photos of Lindsey at Studio 54, nor a venturing into film, or seeing his name mentioned in many supposed romances (well, apart from the well-worn soap with Stevie).

Perhaps it's a paradigm I have, but if I compare Lindsey with Prince, Rod Stewart, Mick Jagger, Ozzy, Cher, Madonna, David Lee Roth or Elton, I can't say Lindsey is a star like them; a quality that does not define whether the musical artistic talent is very good or not. And I see my paradigm coincides with a definition I just found, a description that Stevie does come close to:

Historically and culturally, a rock star is someone who embodies the glamorous and often rebellious lifestyle of rock 'n' roll.

The Persona: They are often seen as sexy, outrageous, and unapologetic.

The Archetype: While the genre has evolved, the iconic image typically involves a dynamic frontman or lead guitarist leading a stadium performance, backed by dedicated fans and intense media attention. (ok Lindsey fits in here, except for the media attention, I don't think it is that intense)

Famous Examples: Iconic rock stars include figures like Elvis Presley, Freddie Mercury, David Bowie, and Mick Jagger

They must start the tour in Birmingham, Alabama. And end it in Inglewood.

I think he also fits the unapologetic quality too.

But I agree, the intense media scrutiny isn't the same with him. He can in fact walk down a street and most people not know who he is (he did that a lot on his solo tours). Fans of course will recognize him and maybe approach him, but not screaming hordes.

but i thought he's taken to wearing various different wedding rings, to throw off the press so they won't catch on that he's actually divorced and with stevie..?! because otherwise the press would be *hounding* him!

has anyone else seen that nutty shipper theory?

on a more serious note, i think Stevie and mick were always the most recognizable and enjoyed being that way. Lindsey and john could probably go anywhere and not be bothered at all. Chris maybe fell somewhere in the middle.

I see all of them kind of being "unapologetic" but i guess i don't see that as a "rock star" quality, but maybe just something we feel more of as we age and feel content with the decisions we've made in life, because there's no going back to change them.

I get it.

No question - Love In Store was a hit and should be on this. I, too, agree that it (and a few other Christine singles) were sacrificed so that Lindsey could have more of a presence; however, this is a classic case of revisionist history. If a title is "Greatest Hits", then the product has been clearly defined - it's about hits, and, without question, Christine was the hit maker in Fleetwood Mac.

That's why I still believe that the best FM compilation is 2002's "The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac" - it's not confined by being a singles collection and, aside from a few questionable track choices (edits of the live versions, going into BTM era songs) and a few omissions (ex. "Isn't It Midnight"), it's a wonderful listening experience both in terms of sequencing and mastering.

Those suggesting that this new GH release is linked with an upcoming reunion may be on to something, though I happen to think it's only because there's been an uptick in interest in "Silver Springs" recently online and Warner/Rhino wants to capitalize on this.

I didn't know that. Well I don't use Spotify or other online platforms. Google AI says the song has amassed nearly 464 million streams on platforms like Spotify and officially reached platinum status, following a massive streaming and chart resurgence.

Classics Dreams, GYOW or Everywhere surpasses a billion. That's no surprise, but the studio version of Big Love has approximately 142.7 million streams. I thought it would have more than SS.
