Default New Chart Peak for 50 Years Don't Stop

Since its release, 50 Years: Don't Stop has been a mainstay on both the UK and Irish charts. In the UK, it has logged well over 300 weeks in the top 40, with most of those being in the top 20 and 91 of those weeks being in the top 10. Early in its chart run, the album reached an initial peak of number five. Since then, it has come close to that peak on numerous occasions, including seven nonconsecutive weeks at number 6 and nine nonconsecutive weeks at number 7. Just this week, the album reached a new peak of number four, seven years after its original release. It has been certified 5 times platinum in the UK; outside of Rumours, Tango in the Night, and The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac, this has the highest album certification the band has received in that country

Maybe I should give this another spin. I first heard it only on streaming and thought the mixing was inferior (harsh, jagged edges and treble wobble) to the masterpiece mixing on the VERY BEST OF collection. To me, the VERY BEST OF is still the best engineering on any modern Mac anthology. It’s perfection.

The mastering on The Very Best of is incredibly strong. "Sisters of the Moon" sounds particularly rich and superior to the mix found on the 2015 deluxe edition of Tusk

Digital technology has evolved and improved over the years. I remember the first CDs I bought in the early 90s, I don't know if it's the best description, but compared to vinyl albums, they sounded like boxed in, locked away. Now they are much more better.

Gosh, I have this. I forgot how impressed I was with VERY BEST.

Glad to have homework.

I do think there is a better mix of Say You Will on the Don't Stop comp. It's subtle, but I think its a better balanced mix. The vocal track seems to sit within the overall mix better.

Compositionally, the best version of Say You Will (IMO) is the single remix cold version from the radio promo single. It was mixed for radio, so it sounds more compressed than the album version, so that's a bummer.

Is there any mix, not live but studio version, of Say You Will without that children's choir at the end?

50 Years: Don't Stop just reached a new peak position of No. 3 in the UK. On the UK Singles chart, "Landslide" also debuted at No. 20, making it the band's 32nd entry on the chart and their first new entry since "The Chain" debuted at No. 94 in 2009. The last time the band had a top 20 hit in the UK was in 2013 when "Everywhere" re-entered the charts at No. 13 due to its use in an advert. In Ireland, "Landslide" also reached a new peak of No. 11.

I'm confused, is that a new compilation album or a different name for a UK release? Or do you mean 50 Years – Don't Stop ? or 25 Years – The Chain? There are so many compilation albums I can't remember all of them.

I accidentally meant to say 50 Years: Don't Stop. I have edited the original message to correct the mistake.

Don’t Stop is #2 in the UK albums streaming chart.
Curious….i wonder why the bump? I know Landslide in Stranger Things could have some impact, but surely not that much of an impact.

I read an article. It went on to say there's an album blocking it, otherwise it probably would have floated to #1.

I've always thought this, too! Whenever I play the 2002 collection I'm amazed with how balanced and open the sound is. In some cases, the mastering is indeed better than that in the reissues. Only downside is that the edited the live tracks from The Dance (ISO and BL - also wished they just used the original studio version of BL rather than the acoustic Dance version).
