Wrong. It does call for the high part. Christine did it the best.

The high vocal part on the chorus is an essential part of “I’m So Afraid”—at least in its original form. Up through the Mirage tour, FM tried hard to reproduce as much of their original vocal parts as possible, not always successfully. By 1982, Stevie couldn’t reach those notes in ISA. Christine’s high harmonies lend a mysterious, haunting dimension to the song that differs from Stevie’s but is as good. When they did ISA on The Dance, the absence of any high harmony leaves the song wanting…

Amen, but 1972? Stevie was still in her 40's!

YES! There is a yearning/agony feel that Christine's vocals added. It adds to the dark atmosphere of the song.

Can’t we blame Rhiannon earlier than that? I think the guitar solo was neutered in 1990.

As for Sisters, I rather enjoyed it in 2013 and in no way expected it to be anything like it was in 1982. They could’ve played a similar arrangement to 1982 but Stevie’s inability to sing or perform it like she did 30 years prior would’ve made it quite a disaster. I didn’t think it was awful in 2013 and given its place in the middle of the set (vs final encore like it was in the 1979-82 days) it was serviceable. I also think it got better in 2014 when Chris was back and started adding little things with the keys.
