Default Lindsey Buckingham on "Nothing Without You"

Does anybody know the story behind Lindsey's involvement on "Nothing Without You" from the Time album? He's credited with backing vocals in the liner notes, but I haven't seen any members of Fleetwood Mac discuss this specific contribution.

He was recording in the same studio.

I really like this song. It's the one track on Time where the theoretical six-piece line-up actually seems to coalesce as a group. Christine is gloriously all over the backing vocals, whereas searching for her on the other Billy/Bekka/Dave tracks is like playing "Where's Wally" (I think she is there, marginally on Billy's tracks and more noticeably on Winds of Change). Having Lindsey there too as well is a nice bonus. 80% of the Rumours lineup back together, however fleetingly...

Could it have been those Lindsey sessions, alongside those of Time, that planted the seed of... I had asked Mick to play drums on a solo album I was working on... still working on, actually. And one thing led to another, and suddenly there we were in the studio saying, Gee, this feels pretty good.

Yes, I believe that Buckingham was working on songs like "Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind" and "The Right Place to Fade" during this time, both of which feature Fleetwood.
