DR has always been one of my favorite tracks from SYW. Today it came on my playlist during my morning walk. I almost could hear what it would have sounded like if Christine was on the track. It would have been stellar with all three voices on the chorus. Still a stand out track.

It's also great for running, or cycling, or driving. When it first came out I would be listening to it as I cycled down the inner city riverside path late at night on my way home from work.

Only having Chris in that one track was such a tease.

I think we spoke about this before. You cycled and I ran. I would jog down the beach boardwalk every night with that CD. Its a great workout CD and listening with headphones really makes you hear the intricacies of much of the music especially songs like Everybody Finds Out and Illume.
Now what I wrote really makes me feel old. I had a portable CD player and would hold it in my hands while running because it would skip if I put it on my waist.
Going back to the original focus of this thread. Its not surprising to hear Chris when she is not there on SYW just like you can hear Stevie on Buckingham/McVie and she's not there either. I dont know if its purposely done or our ears are programmed to hear these harmonies.

And a great night-time album more generally, I think, like Tango. Might be the preponderance of songs in minor key. The others are more daytime albums for me, especially Tusk.

Yep portable CD player here too. It must have been in my pocket but can't remember -- quite possibly I held it as at that time of night I would have been cycling hands-free mostly. Although half the time there would be a stubborn headwind along that working river.

When I read the title I thought it was about the video. And I think DR is the documentary that I watch the least, the one I have enjoyed the least. Contrary to the Tusk doc, the Making of Rumours, and even some tv specials. Why? The obvious thing would be to say that it's because Christine isn't there, but I don't know, I think it's also because there's something else that took away the "magic" from that video. But I don't know what. Maybe because it was no longer the 20th century?

Love this song. The outro guitar and vocals (“we’re just following the rules/no one’s a fool”) are pure Mac heaven. I wish it went on for much longer!

Yep! That Lindsey guitar is killer. When this album came out I had a BMW Z4 convertible and I would turn up this song (along with others) with the top down and cruise my town for all to hear.

Its brilliant. I am always surprised how everyone hates this album on this board. SYW is a musical orchestra. It showcases the brilliance of Lindsey Buckingham more than any other album.
Is this not a great song to cycle or jog to?
Downtherodeo brought something up that is interesting. SYW is a night album maybe because we are conditioned that we listened to it at night. But it as a night vibe. BTW, I always loved the line "diamond snake in a black sky"
Of course Chris is missing in a major way. I can only imagine what SYW would have been like with Chris. It would have been insane and just imagine if SYW was recorded before the Dance in 1996 when albums still sold and then they toured. What a way to go out!

Another underrated song from the album. Makes you want to get up and dance!

SYW is my second favourite album from Fmac.
It took me two years to fully appreciate it.
It’s complicated.
And that’s what I like about it, it’s not an easy album to enjoy at first.
It required perseverance..
Now all these years later I still play it (a lot)
