Still Sealed Buckingham Nicks album?

Can you find one and if you can, how much should I pay for one? I was at a used record store today and they were selling them for $40 and they were not even in great shape. So, of course, I didn't buy it.

Speaking of records, does anyone out there collect FM records? Do you play them or frame them or what? I got a bunch of FM records for only $15 today and I think I am going to frame them, but the frames are soooooooo expensive! Anyway, where is the best place to look for these old records? Flea markets? Garage sales? Pawn shops? I just purchased all the good quality records from that store, so I don't know where to look next. I think it is the only record store in town, so... I don't like to order this kind of stuff online because I really want to be able to look at it first and it is more fun to search for them anyway.

Any ideas?

I bought my BN album on Ebay for 25 bucks plus shipping and it's in EXCELLENT condition...gatefold and all. PLUS, now it's been signed by THE MAN, so YAY!! LOL $40 is, IMO, too much, even if it's in great condition.

I collect records and have lots of FM and FM related records. I've framed the White Album, Rumours, Mirage, Tango, Belladonna and my imported OOTC albums and they are on my wall. I just bought Kiln House (EXCELLENT condition too!!) while in England and that REALLY made my day!! I buy lots of albums from Half Price Books (you REALLY have to dig though for rare stuff) and then Ebay is always there for when I'm wanting to throw money away. LOL

I do play my records RARELY and if they are the only source for a particular album I have. I was really psyched to be able to shop at a REAL record shop in Notting Hill. We don't have those kind of shops here, only Half Price Books...that I know of, anyways.

I got lucky and scored my sealed copy of BN for 25 cents. IMO $40 is too much, but I guess it depends on how badly you want it. I collect FM records & 45s, but don't play them. The only one I have framed is the sealed BN... I picked up my 13x13 frame for it at Walmart. It was only a couple bucks. The others I keep in plastic sleeves in record boxes (I don't remember where I found mine, but they make cardboard boxes specifically for vinyl storage).

The best places to look are flea markets, memorabilia conventions, record stores, and ebay. You can also try thumbing through the record bins at thrift shops, though what you find there is not always in the best shape.

My B/N was about $20, I don't think I'd pay $40, especially if it's not in great shape. I did play mine once, since I hadn't heard it before, but haven't since I got the CD boot.

FM vinyl is pretty easy to find, in my experience anyway. You can get Rumours & the "White" album anywhere - garage sales, flea markets, etc. The key is to find the ones in great shape & with all the artwork/inserts/covers intact. The others are a bit harder to find - record shops & antique malls/shows are good sources.

I have all the FM albums on vinyl except BTM (which I'm not all that upset about, but I'd like it to complete the collection! Don't think any of the albums after this were put on vinyl) and all of Stevie's except Timespace (and Street Angel - but I don't know if they released SA on vinyl, did they?)

I was going to frame them, but don't have the room to display them. My turntable is not working at the moment, so I just have them in my stereo cabinet - I love to take them out & look at the pics & read the lyrics again.

Well, I got my copy of BN from my mom and dad, it was originaly theirs. I've seen it in a lot of local record shops though... and at the one it was only five dollars. I've lucked out and found a lot of my FM records at local record store, and I was shocked to find some rarer solo stuff, like Mick's and Danny Kirwan's solo albums, all at a reasonable price. In one visit I bought both of Christine's solo albums and a few No Doubt records for under $20. And Christy's right about Half Price books, you have to look through them very carefully, but in general you find a lot of good stuff. I got all of my Blondie records there, most of them were sealed. As far as thrisft stores, I'm not too fond of them for records... The only thing you're guaranteed to find is like five copies of Rumours, all in mediocre condition. As far as framing goes, I don't frame mine, I put them in record sleeves and I put poster mounts on the sleeves and hang them up. So, I'd stick to record shops, Half Price Books, eBay, etc.

Btw, as far as 45's go, if you go to a record store that sells them, you can sometimes just buy the picture sleeve, if that's what you're more into collecting .

What are 45's? Singles? We are going a bit before my time so I don't really know exactly what everything is called.

Yes, they're singles. They're about 7" and they're a bit harder to find than the LP's are. And also, they're a bit before my time too .

Nah, I don't think so. I just tell my friends that it's the same as hanging posters of their fave bands. I only have a few of them hanging now, I have a collage of about 4 of them hanging on one of my walls and a few propped up on my windowsill. I'm more into hanging my promo posters now though.

A still sealed Buckingham Nicks album can go for 100$, I believe. As soon as you take the shrink off, though, its value goes down to 50$. The hardcore collectors only buy the still sealed ones but of course they never open them. I had to order the thing from the States (since I believe no one in this country would have it), and even still it has slight surface marks. 25$ only though.

As for the seven inches, not much luck here. The only unusual thing I've been able to find is a Japanese "Everywhere"/"When I See You Again". You can spend a lifetime collecting all the variants of the regular releases.

Do they not sell 7" singles anymore in the US then? They still sell them here in the UK! Even my local (and small) branch of HMV has 7" singles, albeit only a few.

I love 7" singles! I guess the last one I bought was the most recent White Stripes single but I buy them all the time. In fact I bought Landslide recently, from The Dance, as a 7".

The only places I've seen them are at record shops, not at major chain stores like Sam Goody, etc. I also love 7" singles... I bought out almost all of the FM/solo and Blondie ones a few days ago. Surprisingly, they were pretty cheap

Do you have an old record player, or do you just collect for the sake of collecting?

I love collecting things! It is my favorite thing in the world so I am excited to start a FM vinyl collection! Although, maybe I should forget about framing them and get an old record player and play them? This is what I am unsure about.

And also, does it mater if the albums are not in mint condition? I'm not really collecting to get rich off of this stuff, more because I love FM! But I went to the used record store yesterday and purchased all the albums they had that were in pretty good quality, so I don't know if I should settle for okay quality or not.

BTW, the tusk album art is amazing! I loved to see it in all its colorful glory!

Well, my mom and dad's record player bit the dust a few years ago, so I just collect for the sake of collecting. As far as getting a turntable to play them on, that's up to you. I personally don't mind not being able to play them, seeing as I have all of them on CD. It really doesn't matter if they're in mint condition or not, but I won't buy an LP unless it's in decent condition, i,e; not much wear from the record on the cover, inserts must be intact, etc... I never really bother with the vinyl part, I'm more into collecting the album art. But then again, it's up to you on which quality you settle for.

Diamondsnake, it doesn't matter if the albums are in mint condition really (depends whether you are buying them as an investment or simple enjoyment I guess) but try to get them at least in "excellent" or "very good" condition.

Don't pay too much for any of them either! It might be worth getting hold of a book (I know there's quite a few out there) that tells you the value of different records and how rare they are (I think Record Collector may publish one). A mint copy of Tusk, for example, should only cost a few pounds (or dollars) and believe me there are many out there (probably all those Rumours fans quickly dumping the record after one listen lol!)

As for Buckingham Nicks, I think you shouldn't pay more than $25 to $30 for it, and that would be in mint condition! You may luck out and find it for 25 cents but if not don't get ripped off!

Well I purchased a mint copy of Tusk yesterday for 5 dollars, so that is not too bad, right? It looked like it was never even played and I think I put more wear into it by just thumbing through the album then it had when I purchased it, so...

I am hoping I can find some of these albums for only a few cents. I called some local thrift shops and they said they sold albums for 10 cents, so I may take a look! You never know! And I think it is more fun anyway to hunt for them, as opposed to just ordering them online, you know?

I managed to buy all of the FM albums for under five bucks from used record shops in Albuquerque, unfortunately none of the stores are open anymore I also got a great copy on BN there for about 25 bucks if I remember correctly....

Definitely keep an eye out at garage sales...you can find some pretty cool stuff really cheap, sometimes people just don't know what they have...there is no feeling like that of seeing a mint copy of Abbey Road on vinyl at a garage sale, pulling it out of it's sleeve and seeing the apple...then seeing the 25cent price tag lol...anyway...back on topic...

I have all the Mac stuff on vinyl, except for The Dance...which I know is out there somwhere...I've been searching and searching..

And it is fun to collect them...I don't actually collect 45's though...BUT I do remember when music store still had racks for records and 45's lol...
