I never got why Eagles did so many of Walsh’s songs in their set. Don’s solo songs were big Billboard hits.
There have been recent Eagles shows where no Don songs were played, just Joe’s usuals: Walk Away, Life’s Been Good, Rocky Mountain Way, and Funk #49.
I think the only solo song Glenn did was You Belong To the City.

You don’t speak for the band, you know nothing more about what they’re thinking than anyone else. Judging from the amount of posts and how you spread hate and negativity in every single post you make, I can safely say I’m more objective than you are.

Feel free to respond with your usual negativity and nastiness, and I’m more than happy to let you have the last word. But if anyone else would like to continue having a reasonable discussion with me, I’d love it! Other folks know we can disagree and not bully each other.

I think because Glenn always wanted them to be more rock and roll. Bringing Joe and his songs into the band obviously made them far more rock and roll than they previously were. And Joe's songs are "fun" songs.

Interestingly, last time I saw them(with Vince Gill), ALL of Henley's solo songs were gone from the show. I'd guess that with Vince and Deacon on board, they could lighten the load for Don.

I don't know Homer McVie or his real name, but I do know I find the way he conducts himself on the Ledge to be entirely bigoted and unpleasant. At times I would say even somewhat sadistic.

Well yes I agree he may be sincere. But I agree also he didn't care in 2018 about it and just thought on money in the short term. So I'd said to Mick If you had dignity you should stay silent.

I think he cared about it in 2018, but also saw that the situation had become absolutely unsolvable. is that a word? lol hopelessly irreparable. i doubt there was anything anybody could have done to make it work if Lindsey stayed..? and i think it still bothers him to see that no progress has been made after all this time.

i think all the Mac members have/had their opinions on things that went down, they see them how they see them from their own experience. like Stevie said about mick's book-- "I was there, I lived it." For me personally it's hard to hate mick, because i feel he was frequently in the middle of stuff that we may know nothing about. I would like to believe he always had good intentions, because this band was his life, basically. I also recognize that I may be delusional lol.

I don't particularly disagree with what said. HOWEVER, the way it went down in 2018 was a bloody crime. If Nicks and her manager told Mick its him or her I understand why they picked her. But Nicks should have told the world her intentions and explain why she was firing Lindsey and hiring her friend Mike Campbell. Instead she stayed silent and let Mick do the trash talking. Good grief the things Mick was saying about Lindsey were incredible. The band was not happy with Lindsey and to be happy Lindsey needed to be gone. Then he went on to say that Lindsey would never come back to the band and this was a final decision. Stevie used Mick like a puppet. But Mick went along just for the money. If he simply cared about the rift then do that privately. Don't involve the fans, the media or us. But we know why he's going public. His intentions are financial for healing the rift which makes him scumbag of the year again. They year is only half over but he already gets my vote. Its so cynical. There are other bands that fire members. But there has never been this puppet show back and forth. Like I said earlier, if he really cared about the rift they could have put the breaks on the tour for a bit. But he wanted that cash too much.

Remember several months ago, when you got all bent out of shape over a situation with someone else, and the bottom line was that YOU completely misinterpreted the meaning of their post, and you stomped off after throwing a fit? And then you had to eat crow, then disappeared for several months?

I don't fault Mick for wanting to earn money. He's most likely getting residual income from the album sales but that's not enough to fund his expensive lifestyle of which I believe he can still afford based off of recent photos I have seen of him at his massive Hawaiian estate. I bet he still has several million in savings. We have read nothing that supports another bankruptcy. And I don't fault him for wanting to do another FM tour because what else is he supposed to do when he wants to work? And concerning his decisions in 2018, when it comes to making millions, my morals would certainly fly out the window also had I been in his same situation.

I don't disagree with most of what you said, but when it comes to them cancelling the tour in 2018.....Mick would not have had the influence on that that he might have had on such decisions in the past. First, Stevie would NEVER let them cancel the tour, she worries about pissing off promoters and such and she wants to stay on good terms with them for her own tours. Second, Irving would back her up on all that 100%. And, since HE is now the manager of the band, HE would say they cannot cancel the tour. Chris and John, as much as I love them, would NOT stand up to that, I'm sorry to say. So that would leave Mick the sole dissenting voice (in this hypothetical situation) and he would simply be outvoted. Mick is not the leader of this band in the business sense any more and hasn't been for a long time. And with a personality like Irving in charge, who couldn't care less whom he irritates or offends (I see him as the type who will sweet talk you to get you to do what he wants, and then when you resist, he turns into an attack dog) there is no way Mick would hold out. Mick might be in many ways the glue and the heart of the band, and historically throughout all the incarnations of the band he's been the one to try and keep peace and reconcile with everyone. He really doesn't seem to like discord or conflict. Stevie would dig her heels in that she will not stand for canceling the tour, and Irving would back her up and the McVies would want to not prolong any ugly arguments and so he'd be odd man out.

Wow, that was very well put. I think the best way to describe the situation Mick, Christine, and John were in was a no-win situation. We saw what happened when Stevie didn’t contribute songs to Buck/Vie- even though it was a FM album, the tour left out John and Mick. Just because people are millionaires doesn’t mean they still don’t need income to continue their lifestyle. Plus I’m sure they want to be able to leave money to their families when they pass on.

Life unfortunately can’t always be about creativity or legacy- sometimes artists keep recording or touring not just because they love to do those things, but because they need to. We fans can say “FM should have quit recording after Tusk because that was their last incredible album” or after Tango because Lindsey left, or after Behind the Mask because Christine and Stevie quit touring etc but the reality is, FM makes their income from touring, so I completely understand why Mick, John, and Christine made the decision to back Stevie in 2018 or whenever- if they hadn’t, they would no longer have been able to tour.

Mick Fleetwood Sells His Recorded Music Rights to BMG
Fleetwood is the third member of Fleetwood Mac to sell catalog rights, following Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. BMG's head of acquisitions tells Rolling Stone the viral resurgence of "Dreams" factored into the deal

BY ETHAN MILLMAN
JANUARY 14, 2021

Mick Fleetwood, co-founder and drummer for Fleetwood Mac, is selling his entire recorded music catalog to BMG, the company tells Rolling Stone. BMG will receive the musician’s royalty share in a vaunted 300-song catalog that includes tracks like “The Chain,” “Go Your Own Way,” and “Dreams,” the last of which has enjoyed a resurgence among teenagers due to a mega-popular TikTok video.

BMG declined to say how much the company paid in the deal, but said it’s the largest single acquisition BMG has made in two years.

Fleetwood, with this sale, becomes the third member of Fleetwood Mac to sell catalog rights to a third-party investor or manager — following in the footsteps of Stevie Nicks, who sold her publishing rights to Primary Wave Music in December, and former member Lindsey Buckingham, who sold his publishing rights to Hipgnosis Songs Fund last week. Fleetwood Mac is one of the best-selling bands of all time, having sold 54 million certified units, according to Recording Industry Association of America. Rumours, the band’s 1977 album, has sold over 20 million certified units and is ranked seventh in Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list. “Dreams,” a single from that album, recently climbed its way back onto music charts four decades after its release, thanks to the TikTok-fueled virality.

Several dozen other artists and songwriters have sold their rights in the last several months, including Bob Dylan and Neil Young. For music creators, the incentive is a hefty lump sum of cash paid up front; for the buyers, the ownership of these stars’ rights will ideally translate to lucrative revenue streams for decades into the future.

A key differentiator in Fleetwood’s sale compared to many of the other acquisitions in recent months is that, rather than selling publishing rights, the drummer is selling his recorded music rights. Publishing rights pertain to songwriting and composition, while recorded rights relate to the actual recorded performance of the music. That means publishing rights usually yield more revenue in the area of sync licensing (i.e. when a song is licensed for use in a film, TV, ad, or video game) and recorded music rights are more directly tied to streaming, downloads, and album sales.

Haerder says BMG expects publishing revenue, as a whole, to drop this year because of Covid-19 pandemic’s stopping of live performances. (Whenever music is performed in concert, its songwriters receive a chunk in royalties.) Meanwhile, the company expects recorded music rights to get more lucrative — because music streaming is still growing across the world and more listeners translate to more royalties — so BMG is more interested in acquiring recorded music rights than publishing rights, Haerder says.

“Many people are going into music IP on the back of the streaming world,” Haerder says. “When you really look at it though, recorded rights are the ones that almost exclusively are growing on the back of streaming. While publishing has also benefited, it’s more multifaceted. That’s why recorded right now, in our opinion, is as attractive if not more attractive as an IP class in the music space.”

“We strongly believe that these high-profile, generation-defining rights and catalogs have a high sustainable growing value for generations to come.”

He adds: “We think there has been maybe a little bit too much of a focus on publishing and that there’s areas outside of publishing — and not just recorded —where we think those are attractive acquisitions as well.”

BMG’s deal with Fleetwood began taking shape in November, not long after “Dreams” surged from the TikTok trend. That viral success explicitly factored into the deal, Haerder says.

Without giving specific names, Haerder says BMG is looking at similarly high-profile recorded catalogs as well and hopes to close more deals throughout 2021.

“It’s a very competitive space out there, this was a competitive process, but we are definitely looking to do more of these,” he says. “We strongly believe that these high-profile, generation-defining rights and catalogs have a high sustainable growing value for generations to come, and we want to work with these artists and add value to their work.”

In a statement, Fleetwood called the deal “a wonderfully inspiring marriage between two creative partners that understand all aspects” of the music business. “Foremost, BMG understands the artistry and puts the artist first,” he said. “If this partnership is any indication of my past, and now future, working relationship with BMG, it’s that they truly ‘get it’.”
