John and Mick after listening to the demo of Silver Girl.

John: I'm not telling her it's whiny crap like nails on a chalkboard. I don't really care that much.
Mick: Why do I always have to be the d***?
John: Because it suits you.

FM BLOWS GOATS WITHOUT CHRISTINE. She's what made the threesome WORK. She balanced out the ditz and the weirdo.

SYW would have been much more palatable if they'd pared that elephant down to a circus monkey. A 10 banana circus monkey. It's too long, with too many Silver Girls. It's NOT A FUN ALBUM.

By comparison, BuckVie is a f*cking HOOT. It's oozing fun!

This board needs a "Like" button so I could use it here.

Yes yes yes! Of course! I love it when Fleetwood Mac jams and is free to be. Christine would have really added so much. However, IMHO the band was playing extra hard knowing Christine's absence was impacting their sound. There are so many layers on SYW. Like Tusk, the album is a journey and the music is unleashed from a typical Mac performance.

Better they had done a new studio recording of Sweet Girl and put that on the album instead of Silver Girl. Granted it wouldn't sound as sweet without Christine's harmonies though.

She stopped dancing across the stages of the world, back then.
