I read a study once that talked about elderly people in a nursing home. It looked at how they felt with people they were attracted to, and the answer was a resounding “young.” They didn’t see each other as their chronological age, but saw what the heart wanted to see, young people. So essentially they were looking at a persons soul, aura, personality, etc, whatever you want to call it.

So, yes, Stevie and Lindsey could potentially still find each other attractive because of the shared history they have. But that doesn’t negate his love for his wife and family.

In real life people often experience feelings beyond the superficial. Thank heaven. They say love is blind for a reason and I don’t just speak of romantic love. Most people you meet not only think their mother was a good cook, but they remember her as very beautiful. Not all of them are objectively correct, but the heart is what matters.

Whatever first captured his eye, Lindsey got what he needed.

I remember searching for Lindsey solo tour info years ago and for the Southern California stint, Lindsey’s kids and their classmates would attend one show. I came upon messages from when Leelee just got on the internet as a kid. I think her first post was “Hello, World. It is I, Leelee Buckingham.” She was writing with her school friends and some of them mentioned the LB concert, but I remember her getting really excited because it was her mom’s birthday and she was preparing for it. Most children that age are thinking about their own birthday and what they’re going to get, but Leelee was amped up about her mother’s.

That stayed with me, because I remember thinking “Man, that Kristin must be doing something right” and, of course, in these strange times, I think that over and over to myself, 1000 fold.
