[ryan4136]

What studio songs did they partake in that Tom released beyond “Insider” (and SDMA)?

Needles and Pins
The Apartment Song
I Will Run To You

That's all I can think of right now. There is another song, but Stevie only does a harmony.

Shouldn't this be in the $tevie forum???

Hang tight I’m hoping to circle back.

There's another song on Hard Promises that Stevie did a backup vocal for. I think it was You Can Still Change Your Mind.

And I don't think the dust has yet settled on whether Stevie's vocal is on Don't Come Around Here from Southern Accents.

Quaint tidbit: Had Stevie released her initial recording of Battle of the Dragon, it would have featured Petty.

yes.

discussion of purely SN solo songs that have nothing to do with FM does not belong in FM forum.

She's on "You Can Still Change Your Mind" and the demo of "The Apartment Song" but is not on "Don't Come Around Here No More."

Here's a comprehensive thread: https://www.mudcrutch.com/forum/inde...ations-thread/

The reason I ask was to compare how often SN was on TP songs compared to LB.

you mean how many songs of TP's she was on vs how many LB was on?

I think you need to factor in that Stevie pretty much stalked Tom, showed up uninvited often to his studio sessions, etc.(read Tom's authorized biography). I doubt Lindsey did.

Lindsey on four: Walls (Circus), Climb That Hill, Asshole (Beck cover), and The Man Who Loves Women
Stevie on three*: Insider, You Can Still Change Your Mind, and The Apartment Song (demo version)
(*four if you count SDMHA, which was released on the 2008 edition of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Greatest Hits and again on their new compilation The Best Of Everything)

Stevie also on the following:
–from live albums: Insider, Needles And Pins, and Learning To Fly
–from live video release (30th Anniversary Concert video): different performances of Insider and Learning To Fly, plus Don't Come Around Here No More, American Girl, Stop Draggin' My Heart Around, and I Need To Know and (on which she sings lead)
–Bob Dylan's song Band Of The Hand (on backing vocals with Petty and others)
–duets with Petty from her own albums: I Will Run To You and SDMHA [referenced in the third (parenthetical) line above]
