Singer-songwriter looks back on heady days at Château d'Hérouville, discusses band's future plans
Four months after Mick Fleetwood hinted to Rolling Stone that McVie and Buckingham "could probably have a mighty strong duet album if they want," the singers formally revealed the project Friday in an interview with Los Angeles Times.
"All these years we've had this rapport, but we'd never really thought about doing a duet album before," Buckingham said. "There is that album [Buckingham Nicks] that I did with Stevie [Nicks] back before we joined the band, but other than that, it's all been Fleetwood Mac or solo."
The album, tentatively scheduled for release in May, features musical contributions from fellow Mac members bassist John McVie and drummer Mick Fleetwood. However, McVie and Buckingham were clear that the LP would arrive under the Buckingham McVie name and not the Fleetwood Mac.
Since McVie rejoined Fleetwood Mac following a 16-year sabbatical from the band, it's been rumored that members have been hunkered down in Los Angeles' Village Studios working on their first new LP since 2003's Say You Will.
However, as Mick Fleetwood told Rolling Stone in an August interview, while the band recorded a "huge amount" of new music since McVie's return, "None of it's with Stevie… or very little."
"Some of it is very, very old stuff that Lindsey maybe did with [Nicks] years and years ago. We're not quite sure what will happen with it," Fleetwood said at the time. "Stevie has her own life and career and I think … you know, she just doesn't want to spend the time right now. And we're quietly saddened about that but also I sort of understand."
Fleetwood added that "when Christine came back, she came back with a bag full of goods. She ****ing wrote up a storm."
The following month, McVie told Rolling Stone, "We cut seven songs in the studio already for the start of a brand-new studio album... We shelved that temporarily and then went on the road and did the tour. And now, actually, I think we're going back in in October to try to finish it off. Stevie hasn't participated yet, but hope springs eternal... But Lindsey and I, we have plenty of songs. There are tons more in the bag that we have yet to record. And they're fantastic. So we're going to carry on and try to finish the record."

Hopefully if the Mac world tour is pushed back due to a Buckingham McVie tour Stevie might release a 24 Karat Gold Part 2. Fingers crossed!!!

I hope she releases some type of album this year, whether it be Vault Part 2 or something else. It would be sad if she doesn't want to record anymore. In her latest interview she mentioned albums don't sell now and all that nonsense. She's rich, is she that concerned about album sales? Streaming is more popular than ever.

I think she'll still record solo material. There, it's not really any drama so there's nothing to make her not excited about it, except that records don't sell which I don't think is as big of a deal if she can still make the album on her own terms without arguing with anyone.
Also I think she'd rather save her best material for solo projects rather than give to FM.

Am I the only one who would have liked it to be called Buckingham Mac? If it's Fleetwood Mac and Buckingham Nicks, then it's Buckingham Mac.
Mac Buckingham instead would seem some kind of London themed special burger. Or maybe it'd be even better that way.

That would indeed be the baffling, seeing as how a small portion of hell must've frozen over with Christine's return.

Stevie Nicks says another Fleetwood Mac album is doubtful: ‘We’re not 40 anymore’

The music icon says the band are more likely to focus on touring*
Moving on? Stevie Nicks does not think Fleetwood Mac will make another album (Kevin Winter/Getty Images)
Stevie Nicks says she does not think Fleetwood Mac will make another album together -- because they are "not 40" any more.
The singer, 68, believes the band are more likely to focus on touring and doubts they will ever record a follow-up to 2003's Say You Will.
She said: "If the five of us were to get together to make a record it would take a year, which is what it always takes us.
"It would be a whole year of recording, then press, then rehearsal, and by the time we got back onto the road, it would be heading towards the second year, and I don't know whether at this time it's better for us just to do a big tour."
The band has sold more than 100 million records and reformed with the classic line-up of Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, John and Christine McVie and Mick Fleetwood for a world tour, which ended in 2015.
Nicks said: "It's every single penny we make divided by five, so the expense of making a record, which is huge, and then to get back on tour ... we are not 40.
"We have to take that into consideration -- how long can we do tours that are three-hour shows? Would you rather spend a year in the studio or get back on the road? I think that the band would choose to tour."
Nicks, who is focusing on her solo career, is also reluctant to make new music.
Latest music reviews
She said: "I don't write as many songs any more because with the internet, the way that kids listen to music, all the streaming, and the fact that if they're very savvy, if they want to get it and not pay for it, they can.
"It goes against the grain of our whole belief in, 'You write a song, you record it, and you put it out there and people should buy it'.
"We realise it's not our world any more and the younger kids don't look at it like they're taking from us... we don't have the impetus to write 20 songs because we know that unless you're under 20 you're not going to sell many records."
She is not involved with the new album by McVie and Buckingham, which is not a Fleetwood Mac record.

She said: "I'm sure it's going to be great, because Christine is super-inspired. I'm really happy for them."
On July 9, Nicks will support her old friend Tom Petty with his band The Heartbreakers at Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time in Hyde Park.
She said: "I'm the girl who always wanted to be in his band and he's always the one who said, 'No, no girls allowed.' There's just no one else I'd rather be on stage with than Tom."

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope that this is just a temporary depressive state decsion and she'll change her mind, maybe Tom Petty will have a good influence on her.
