X2, the stuff she's put out the last 10 years with Dave Stewart pales in comparison to BD/WH. New albums WILL SELL if they are great. 24K is not near great. Not a single song on it has charted on iTunes or anywhere else. Sales have not been significant and two years after its release, its all but forgotten.

No new album by someone in their 60s or 70s is going to sell no matter what the quality .Even new albums by young people don't sell millions anymore unless they answer to the name Adele Atkins.

So, what you're telling me is that unless you're Adele, you can be excused for putting out dreck that people simply won't buy. Sure, makes sense to me??

Fact is, IF 24K or any other of her recent albums were great, they'd sell on Stevie's name alone. Dave S did her a great disservice by allowing her to put out songs that should have remained in the VAULT. All in the name of honoring a recording contract I guess?

Have you not been paying attention the last 10 years? You don't know what your talking about. Sia and others have huge hits and their albums don't go even platinum.

And 24k is probably the best reviewed album of her career.

Both IYD and 24KG were top 10 albums..look at some of her peer's from her solo heyday of the early 1980s ,Pat Benatar has not had a top 10 album since 1982!

Yeah, I live by the words of reviewers and pollsters too!! It may be best reviewed , BUT certainly NOT the best album to my ears. Gotta go back to the late 70s, early 80s for that!!

5 and a half years later and IYD is also all but forgotten, another Dave Stewart debacle. Give me TISL over 24K or IYD any day. Heck, I am not so sure that I wouldn't also take SA over them as well.

I don't think it's Dave's fault the albums didn't sell so well. Although I've never been a terribly big fan of Stevie's solo work because of the cheesy production, the albums were good overall and would've pleased fans. But the only people today that manage to get people to go out and buy an album are Taylor Swift and Adele. For both of them, their last few albums have sold millions upon millions. It's not shocking that someone like Stevie, despite being a legend, won't sell big numbers. IYD did pretty well considering.

And to think that 24K Gold is now my third favourite album by Stevie, after Bella Donna and Wild Heart.

These two albums are incredible. Her best work, by far. Can't wait til I have time to sit down and listen in entirety.

Why isn't Stevie getting people out to buy her CDs/Albums?? She did back in the 70s and 80s and even TISL was well received. Why are IYD and 24K any different?. Because they are not near the quality of what BD, WH or even SA were. You can't blame everything on "people dont buy music anymore" because of Internet etc. If its a great album like 21, it'll sell and sell BIG!!

People not buying music is a huge thing though, but I also think it's hugely because she's not at her peak anymore. When Stevie was selling millions, she wasn't old and she was still very beautiful and her voice was still in great condition. You know, that was her prime. Just like Adele and Taylor Swift are at their primes now, I doubt that in 30 years, they'll still be selling the numbers they're selling now. I don't think a lot of those older artists could sell today the way they did in their primes. The Rolling Stones are putting out an album aren't they? They're literally the STONES and I'd be very, very surprised if it goes platinum. I think Stevie has a very dedicated fanbase who will buy whatever she does as well as Fleetwood Mac fans, but I just don't think the general public/typical album buyer cares about her as much as they did 30 years ago, even if she is a legend.
That's why I'm kind of in awe at the likes of Adele and TSwift, in music today they manage to get even casual fans to go out and buy a record.

I disagree. 21 sells big because it sells to those people who only go out an buy one album that year. It sells big because the songs are used in SNL skits. It sells well because the songs are played hourly on radio stations. It sells well because of the Adele brand.

Stevie is a has-been. A been-there-done-that. A legend, but a has-been nonetheless, and she will never, ever sell a million or even 500K of anything ever again. It doesn't matter how good the songs are or who produces them or what image is on the cover or what the reviews say. Paul McCartney doesn't sell a million and he's a Beatle!

Most music fans stream their music these days. Very few people buy CDs or even whole albums on iTunes. Those who do are die-hards like us and housewives who go out once a year to buy the Susan Boyle or Adele CD they've been waiting for.

I love Stevie as much as any hardcore fan, but let's be realistic about sales when it comes to her albums.
