Question If I Were You?

Does anyone know if there was a music video to this song?

Or Some Become Strangers? -I highly doubt this one-

no....there were no videos to these songs to my knowledge. the only ones to RAL were "Talk to Me" and "I Can't Wait" being that those were the two singles from the album.

There was a third single from Rock A Little...Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You...but there was no official video for it. If I Were You and Some Become Stangers were just album tracks.

Some Become Strangers is one of my favorite Stevie songs that she didn't write herself. I remember being in a record store not long after the Rock A Little album was released, and that song was blasting through the store. Sounded great!

Has anyone ever heard the original version -- written and performed by the Williams Brothers? On the album that song appears is also a great angry rocker "You Like Me" written by Stevie!
"Don't read your words into my words. Remember the words "Don't do it!" "You're rage I see through...you like me, don't you?"

If I Were You is one of my least favorite Stevie songs that she didn't write. Very trite lyrics and too representative of 1980's production, for better or worse.

The album indicates Stevie and written by S. Nicks and R. Nowels wrote it. Personally, I always thought that meant Stevie wrote the words and Rick did the music. But, I could be wrong. Does anyone have any additional info. ?

As I recall, she told Jim Ladd in 1986 that she wrote the words of the "I believe that love is a living thing" stanza. I think the words of the rest of the song are Rick's.

I've heard it and it stinks, IMO. Stevie's version reigns supreme.

And I always thought Imperial Hotel would be a cool video. And The Nightmare could use a video to help normal people make sense of it. Then again, knowing Stevie's love of the opaque, I picture her offering The Nightmare: A Civil War version.

Me too!

Having said that, I really like almost all of RAL except The Nightmare and parts of Some Become Strangers. Imperial Hotel is just stunning to me.

I think Imperial Hotel is a great rocker that stands the test of time. Too bad she never performed it live...it could have been a wailer.

And, yes, I recall Stevie mentioning that the only lyric she wrote for If I Were You was the stanza:

"Well I believe that love is a living thing, born into our destinies from a single moment of inspiration. And as it grows it changes our lives forever."

I agree with If I Were You not having the best lyrics, but the energy in the vocals REALLY makes up for it...when she belts out "IT CHANGES OUR LIVES FOREVER, WEEEEEEEEEELL IF I WERE YOU!" Then I love the end "If love is what you feel, and love is what you want, why can't you tell me that you're feeling like I do, and I do, and you know every time I look in your eyes I just can't escape, can't escape, cause a life-time inside your eyes forever baby..." It's one of, if not my favorite off of RAL too.

I want to hear "Some Become Strangers" so freakin' bad! But there is not a copy of Rock A Little in the entire city of Amarillo. It was the first Stevie solo CD I ever wanted to own, but I don't access to it, now two years later I have every Stevie solo CD but RAL and it really pisses me off!

Anyway, I've heard this song is kick-ass! I can't wait to own it.

Every single person I know, hears those lines a little differently!

I've always thought she sang:

"I know just what you feel, I know just what you want... why can't you tell me that you're feeling like I do... and I do... and you know every time I look into your eyes, I just can't escape... can't escape... 'cuz I'm locked up inside your eyes forever, baby...."

I've always heard:

"I know just what you feel, I know just what you want
Why can't you tell me that you're feeling like I do-and I do
And you know every time I look into your eyes I just can't escape,
Can't escape
There's alot there hiding inside your eyes
Forever baby..."

I hear: There's a lifetime to hide inside your eyes forever, baby.

I promise to settle the debate once and for all once she contacts me.
Send me a private message, Stephanie Nicks.
