at first i thought the tape was at the wrong speed coz Stevie sounds like she inhaled a bunch of helium, but then everyone else sounds right. Then I figured out she's talking kinda baby-talk to Lindsey, and in the very very beginning he talks a kind of baby-talk back to her. So you wonder when this was done...

Nowadays Stevie would talk baby-talk to Karen and have her communicate it to Lindsey or his assistant...

They sound like magic. And taking the Chain chorus out of Stevie's song didn't necessarily have to gut it. "There you go down the road, but don't look to me to say goodbye" is a nice chorus itself.

He said they have found cassette tapes that they left on for ideas. Can't wait to hear...

I think it is off. The song is a half-step higher than Stevie's demo of it, which of course, they could done themselves when working on it... but given the weirdness of their voices, it makes more sense to me that the speed of the tape playback is in fact slightly off.

Wow, that song could have gone in so many different directions ... and it still would have been brilliant whichever way it ended up.

yeah, very well could be.

and yet the tone of the back and forth between Stevie and Lindsey is still kinda baby talk-ish and cutesy in a way that it will never be again.

I think so, too. It can happen with old homemade tapes. When I used to do tape trading, many of the audience concert recordings from the 70s (Rumours tour) on tape sounded a bit too fast and high-pitched. Once in a while, I would get one that sounded too slow. I assumed it had to do with speed issues on the old tape recorders that originally recorded the shows, or tapes being copied (and other copies made from those copies) many times at slightly wrong speeds.

Doesn't sound exactly the same. I do like when the goof around with each other. It's usually quite funny. "Thank you Lindsey, Thank you Stevie"

That one always cracked me up.. a hint of sarcasm.. but if you follow the band like we do.. you get it...

I love your optimism Nicole. (and I mean that, sincerely).

I am far too old and cynical to think any of that is other than putting on a show for the fans.

Listen, I will always have a connection with my first love. We still talk a little and care very deeply with each other. But we both have moved on and have different lives. I love my new boyfriend and would never even think of going backwards.

Now, if I knew people bought into me and my ex drama; you bet your life I would be kissing him and acting for the camera eye. Stevie is a smart woman. She knows by having Lindsey on her album it opens up a whole new door for marketing. Buckingham Nicks is a good product. The first album was fantastic, and they propelled FM as much as FM propelled them. Stevie especially. But, if you ever get the chance to ask any insider how they really feel about each other, you'll get an honest answer.

is that a polaroid of Stevie that LB is kinda rubbing/scratching over at the beginning? Or of Carol? I've looked several times and it does seem to be Stevie....
