Yes this is horrible. It was kept secret but Glen was in the hospital since November. The side effects of this arthritis medicine killed him. It caused all kinds of complications. Just makes you so angry.
My mother was one diabetes medicine that they found out years later destroyed the heart. Sometimes the medicine for the disease kills you faster than the disease.

I agree...it was one of the best concerts my entire life. Gosh I wish I could relive that experience. Me and my friends were so close that Eddy Quintela winked at us when he was playing keyboards

Agree 100 percent.I'm so glad reading this from some of the 20 somethings .My niece and nephews are in their 20's and enjoy the classic stuff.They cant stand the currents.

Thanks to autotune and other electronic computer gadgetry in the studio or on stage .It ruined a generation or two of youth which could have potential with the right training in voice and writing skills .They could stick out.

The Buckingham/Nicks school of voice and writing will be a good place to start.LOL....

I cant see any artists or bands of today sticking out with longevity like the Eagles and of course FM in 20 plus years.Or I should say a very few currents will stick out and not to condemn them all.

The 60's were important, because there was so much innovation happening in the music. The 80's were okay, BUT, the 70's were the decade that American Music really hit it's stride. IMO, the 70's was as good as we'll ever get.

while i think there's great music out there now the same as before, it's much more dispersed and harder to catch on, probably.

here's Bowie being asked about Britney and NSYNC, listing new groups at the time that were kinda underground and how they are not given enough chance to bubble up on the surface i guess since music on the radio is crap (that was 2002). of course, David Bowie pushed and helped groups like Arcade Fire (probably before LB ever heard of them):

I cant catch on with the new stuff .I just lost interest .Its just a mix bag .Rock is boring ,R&B in now rap,country is not country.

Radio is the big problem They only play the crap and leave the good stuff aside.Thank goodness for the college stations and Youtube and some internet stations .They play the good stuff.

1990's was the start of the decline of interest.It really nose dive in the 2000's for me.

It's so funny that you say that. Because circa 1990, I was still listening to rock, or TRYING to! Then, I went out and bought Nirvana's Nevermind, and Pearl Jam's Ten.

...And I TRIED to like them both. I really did. For MONTHS. I couldn't. I HATED THEM BOTH EQUALLY!!! If "this" is what rock had become, I was over it. And it was because of both of those albums, that I began listening to country. My beloved FM and Eagles weren't doing sh*t, and this CRAP is what I was left with??? I had to walk down a different avenue, and I did for quite a few years. At least until FM and The Eagles got back together.

And from roughly that time period I'd recommend 'The Bends' by Radiohead. They really don't make (much) rock like that anymore- though Arctic Monkeys and a few other bands are knocking around today. Simon Cowell and the likes have a lot to answer for.'

I'd really recommend looking up a live performance on YouTube of a Pearl Jam song called Yellow Ledbetter (which they normally close their show with) that's what rock & roll is all about. (and they change the lyrics that are song on a regular basis).

2015 may have been a good year for the music industry, but it wasn't a great year for music released in 2015. For the first time since Nielsen began tracking music sales in the US, catalog albums (an industry term for anything released over 18 months ago) outsold new releases.

There are a number of factors that add up to catalog albums taking the sales crown. Music streaming was up 92 percent from 2014 and physical album sales for new releases dropped 14 percent, while catalog album sales only decreased by 2 percent.

Add in the revival of vinyl records to that — 12 million units were sold in the format, with records from Pink Floyd, The Beatles, and Miles Davis making up three of the five best-selling vinyl albums — and catalog albums had the juice to top new releases, despite Adele selling 7.4 million units of 25 in 2015. (And if you're thinking older people are carrying the vinyl revolution, think again; Taylor Swift's 1989 was the second biggest vinyl album of 2015.)

Catalog music is also dominating music streaming as well, with new releases only making up 30 percent of audio and video streaming volume. 2015 may have just been a bad year for new music from the biggest stars, with no albums from Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Kanye West, and Frank Ocean (Frank, where are you????) or everyone could have just been playing 21 on repeat waiting for Adele to finally release her new record. Either way, America wasn't really in love with what 2015 had to offer.

New albums still have a slight lead when it comes to digital sales, and if the numbers hold steady throughout 2016, it can maintain that lead. But it's clear the immediate future of music consumption may be led by catalog releases as more and more people embrace streaming as a viable music source and vinyl sales continue to grow.

Honestly, it's the "singing" I can't stand. There's no melody. There's no harmony. WHY do these guys keep YELLING at me?

Two great songs. I never ignore modern music. I love the radio and am constantly turning the dial to EVERY station when I am in the car. There are plenty of great new songs to enjoy. I'd hate to be stuck in the past musically.

Ha, modern music. To think these are more than twenty years old.
I used to love Pearl Jam (and Nirvana, Smashing Pumkins etc) as a teenager and back then they used to be super-cool grungers with their long hair, cut-off jeans and lumber jack shirts. You see them today and they're still great but they're grown-up respectable parents with sensible haircuts and tidy clothes.
