Gypsy Video Version on CD?

Hi!
Does anyone know if the version of Gypsy, used in the Music Video, was ever released on CD. I think it's 4:50 while the album version is about 4:25.

I'm not sure if it's the same version as the music video, but on the Fleetwood Mac Box Set released in 1992 on CD there is an extended version of Gypsy that goes for over 5 minutes.

Hi PopuVamp! No, the video version was not released on CD. As MacFan92 says, the extended version of Gypsy was released for the Box Set and it goes for a little more than 5 minutes, and the video version is about 4:50. If you listen to the first, you can hear chorus saying "She was just a wish, she was just, a wish..." and this phrase is not on the video, where the Lindsey's solo is a little bit longer than in the "common" song, but less than in the extended version of the box set.

When I first read this thread title, I immediately recall my "greatest videos" DVD I got at a peruvian market, cause it was the only way to get a Gypsy video

dunno if anyone else noticed this...but if you watch the "making of Gypsy" video...when Stevies singing along...well, at the end of the video it always seemed to me they let a small part of her singing along bleed thru (very quietly in the background you can hear her say - see your bri-ight eyes) and it matches up with her singen along in the making of video??!! (the only Ledgie I can think of that would've noticed this LITTLE vocal thing is MIKE BISE? and he seems to have vanished)

I'm a total Gypsy fanatic. There's a demo somewhere that has a different vocal all the way up to the ooohs and aaahs at the end but then is the vocal used on the album from then on. It has a very basic organ rather than Christine's tinkly keyboards and sounds a lot closer to how they did the song live during that time. The thing that's cool about this demo is that you hear all of Stevie's vocals before the background vocals and Lindsey's guitar solo were added and that little bit that windbecame mentioned was actually part of the vocals. So while she may have sung it on set, she was probably singing that part of the actual song. That's the one thing that really bums me out about the version from The Chain. I love the extra parts to it and how it's longer than any other version but it's missing that one last bit of vocal from Stevie and I just love that. I have this demo and if I remember I'll post it tonight when I get home from work but the mp3 I have fades out just as she's singing that last part and I swear I've heard the same demo only longer.

Has anyone else noticed this... during the guitar solo at the end John's bass is a lot more pronounced in the video mix. He does this great thing where he plays a bunch of notes going down the scale and when he hits the last one at the bottom Mick does a cymbal crash. You can hear it in the Chain mix but it's not as dramatic but it's clear as day in the video mix.

Working Title’s Eric Fellner Looks Back at His Work on Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Gypsy’ Video

Eric Fellner joined Working Title Films in 1992, and is now co-chairman of the company that’s made dozens of movies including “Four Weddings and a Funeral” and most of the Coen brothers films. This year, Working Title is behind “The Danish Girl” and “Legend”; next year it will release the Coens’ “Hail Caesar,” Edgar Wright’s “Baby Driver” and sequel “Bridget Jones’s Baby.” In 1983, Fellner was producing music videos, and his nomination for an American Video Award for Fleetwood Mac’s “Gypsy” earned his first Variety mention.

How did you land the “Gypsy” gig?

I started producing music videos in early ’80s as a very excited 21-year-old. It was a new industry. In England, you couldn’t get into a film union without experience, and you couldn’t get a job without the union. I was very lucky this new cottage industry was starting. I got to be producer.

Do you remember the project?

“Gypsy” I remember very well. Russell Mulcahy was a leading music video director. We shut down Hollywood Boulevard at night, and brought a giant crane (for the camera). It was like a movie production, with Stevie Nicks dancing down the street.

What do you remember about that time?

I produced countless music videos, maybe hundreds: Spandau Ballet, Duran Duran. It was pre-MTV; you could do anything. I then went to make movies — “Sid & Nancy” in 1985. Since then, we’ve made 70-80 movies, maybe more.

How does Working Title manage to put out such successful movies?

I’ve been quite a bit lucky. I have a business partner and incredible team of creative executives, and have worked with some for 15-20 years. Tim Bevan and I have worked together for 24 years. We understand how each other works. We tend to work primarily on smaller or mid-budget (films), but maybe one day …

How do you compare L.A. and London?

I never lived in L.A., just fly in five to 10 times a year. I’ve done more miles than most airline pilots. London is a wonderful place to live. It’s a major film center; Hollywood shoots here. I would love to shoot more in L.A. The problem is the financial incentives are better elsewhere. We just shot “Hail Caesar” in Los Angeles, and it was great — so rare that you get the opportunity to do it.

If I remember correctly there was a different version released on a 45 single. I'm not sure if this was the video version, the one on the box set or something different. Does anyone remember that 45 version?

Yes, the 45 version is a shorter edit of the album version except it cuts out most of the "lightning strikes" parts at the end but it does have "your bright eyes, I can't find you" before the guitar solo like in the video.
