I think it says a lot about the posters on this board who don't start threads talking about how awful another board is. It's rather childish. Also, take into consideration that some of the people on other boards who bash the Ledge also post here and then say they don't as if they're embarassed.

My point is, people may not always have the most sunny and delightful things to say about the band members, but they're nice enough not to put down people on other boards. People who do that kind of **** show their true colors...and then come back and post as if they never said a thing.

I try my best to be respective of the opinions of others. I don't think I've ever been intentionally rude. But apparently, you (U)just don't get it!

Speaking as a true fan of Stevie, I don't feel the need to defend her. I do feel the need to defend the right of free speech. Be enlightened enough to know and accept that there will always be a small contingency of posters who will post things that may offend you (U). It should mean little to you (U), because (b/c) ultimately it affects no one -- not Stevie, not genuine fans--- only those choose to react to it, which is the prime motive of those posters.

It's not a matter of whether I think or you (U) think or anyone else thinks it's okay to "put down Stevie." THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE!!!! The issue is letting people express themselves and leaving this board open for dissenting opinions, however uncomfortable you (U) may be with that.

If you (U) can't emotionally handle that reality, put on your politically correct police hat and find a better place where you can make the world safer for Stevie and other overly sensitive fans everywhere!

Ogeez, if it was freedom of speech--why can't I have my own way of saying what I think? I just thought that it would be a good idea to get rid of this thread b/c it seems to offend people more then enlighten them. What's the point of this thread in the first place? I thought this board was about the music?

Well, this whole time I was just trying to stick up for my Idol b/c I know that she already gets a bunch of crap from all the media a-holes. I'm just trying to say that fans of someone wouldn't want to put someone down like that. About the Freedom of speech, there really is not anymore of that in this Country--I know that it's leading to that and I would like to have FOS but it's slowly slipping away.

I see Ledge bashing on other boards and agree, what do they suggest the solution is? The Ledge is an open board as most of the other most popular sites are. You can't keep out the people you don't like or the opinions you don't agree with. If someone is happier and finds they like another board more than the Ledge, that's fine, but I don't think it helps things to start threads there bashing this site. Running back to dis this site and bash the people who post here isn't helping things.

It's also pretty sad about some of the people ande who bash this site, call the posters names, and next thing
you know, they're either reading the board or posting on it. Do other people think that some people who frequent this site don't read the other ones, or is the thrill in knowing they do and they're going to read what they wrote and what they said about the people here.

There's room for every board and there's no reason to start saying this site is better than the other one and the people on one site are better or "real fans". Fans are fans and where you post doesn't make you better or worse than anyone else.

Huh ? Sorry if you feel that way Kim. I think this is a great place. People are smart, kind, and very open minded. Most of all, people here are an extremely thoughtful group of music lovers. Of course, there are people who stir the pot, but it keeps things from being boring.

The weight thing is really beaten to death.
But I will say something anyway.
People mostly reacted to the weight so much because it was a change. And sometimes change is indicative of a problem. Rapid weight gain can indicate depression, other emotional difficulties, and can be a side effect of prescription drugs. Not always...but it is a red flag. For Stevie it was a drug side effect, and it was a sign that there was a lot wrong in her life. People get concerned, and sometimes for good reason.
Of course our standards of beauty are screwed up. The media sells us an image of female beauty based on women who are genetic anomalies (like, one in a million women is 5'9" and 110 pounds). It's very destructive. It's best ignored, if possible. Isn't so easy for men anymore either (especially us homos). We're supposed to look like models clothed and porn stars unclothed !

Either way, we can all only be the best we can be. And Stevie is pretty damned good. Anyone dissing her hard...if you're over 35, how about posting a picture of you now, and one ten years ago. We'll see how you're holding your aging butt together !

I've only been reacting this way b/c I know that a lot of people that I know have been put down strongly and I see their reactions and it's sad. I just can imagine what Stevie's face would look like if her fans were putting her down like that. She's a sensitive person and it's only obvious b/c of how she reacts when fans do something messed up--like that fight that made her cry. Anyway, I said that about this board b/c this is the only board that i've found bashing going on. I'm a part of a lot of FM boards and this is the only one that has bashing. I'm sorry to the people that didn't bash Stevie b/c of course i'm not upset with you. The reason on why Stevie is a bit heavier then she was a few years ago, is b/c of her age more then likely. When women hit menopause, things I heard get pretty rough.

Does "reacting this way" include going to other boards to bash this board and the people who post here? It's a shame that you don't agree with every post and every poster on this site, most people don't agree with everyone and everything that's said. Like Johnny Stew told you, you can either learn to voice your opinion on topics you feel strongly about or ignore some threads that are hot topics. You also have the option of not posting here. This board is open to everyone, but it's not really nice to go back and forth between public boards bashing the people you disagree with and starting threads bashing this site. You're coloring this site and everyone on it in a very nasty way and that's not helping anything.

I liked it in the begining but when someone starts talking bad and--YES I KNOW THAT THEY CAN SAY WHATEVER THE F*CK THEY WANT! Anyway, it was a shock to me to read that someone would call Stevie gross...It's just crap. By the way, i'm a younger person so I have a tendency to go off and blow up in others faces.

Did it ever occur to you that some people here might not agree with or like everyone on other sites? Kim... you need to chill. I hate it when people talk about Stevie's weight, I have spent most of my adult life losing and gaining weight. BUt there are tons of other threads to post on all over the ledge boards. I said my piece on this issue and then that was enough for me. This thread would die if we could all leave it alone. There will always be people who want to bash Stevie - just let them get on with it.

BTW... I also post on burnish and I am really starting to hate this 'them and us' mentality.

I hardly think the fact that you are a "younger person" means that you have the right to "blow up in others faces". I am only 15 and while I started this thread, I have yet to "blow up in others faces" or join in on this craziness....

I know this is a whole different issue but you talk about Stevie being bothered about reading something like this. Do you not think it would bother her to read some of the 'fan fiction' that is posted on the net? I'm sure Stevie could care less about any of this.

That said this needs to stop. Stevie is beautiful whatever her weight. IT really isn't an issue to me. And lets quit with bashing the ledge on other boards.
