The best ever performance of Stand Back

I don't have an opinion on the BEST but I have been missing seeing videos of Lindsey singing along soooo enthusiastically to it.

Anyway, have these gifs of Stand Back which never fail to amuse me.

She was ON.POINT. that night. The energy, the vocals, the facial expressions, her movements. I will never tire of watching this one. I wish there was a better version somewhere

It's a stunning raw performance in its immediacy, visually and vocally. This was an early introduction to the live performance of the song. It's great for what it is, but I feel that her performances of the song got better over time, as she grew into the song.

She cuts off her lyric lines (standing in a) and ( in the middle of my). In the second verse it appears she forgets a line and ad-libs it. This performance was highly animated specifically for TV. Strange how also performed Nightbird on this show, but it never performed it on stage. Seeing Sharon on Stand Back is hilarious, watching her stick-figured limbs awkwardly dangling around with no sense of rhythm. She is so seasoned now; cool and smooth.

For me, Stand Back has to be crazy 80's era. And how about the craziest versions where Stevie messes up the lines so much and is so out of control. I LOVE IT. LONG LIVE THE 80's and the craziness!

The SNL show was December 1983 and the Wild Heart Tour was over. Nightbird was released as the third single after If Anyone Falls fell off the chart in late November. So she used the show to launch the third single. If the tour was still ongoing I am sure she would have done it live. In February 1984 Stevie did Nighbird live again on Solid Gold.
On another note, I don't think Nightbird should have been a single. I think Wild Heart could have been extended with Enchanted or Nothing Ever Changes released as the 3rd single.

I think that the best singles from Wild heart, beside Stand back, would have been I will run to you, Nothing ever changes and Beauty and the beast.
Sable on blonde would have been a bomb live on tour instead.

Someone please comment on my favorite versions of Stand Back. Is it just me that loves the crazy out of mind 80's versions

I will have to agree. I was just listening to some of those 80's live recordings and there was so much improvising going on. I'm so glad that I got to see those live shows in the 80's. I loved what she use to do with that voice of hers.

I LOVE when in the 80's version she does headbanging and then during the guitar solo she just jumps around WITHOUT Brad Jeffries.

I AGREE!!!!
That clip I posted from 1986 is so wild. She is so out of control with head banging and running all over the place, forgetting verses, yelling. Its a mess but that is why I love it so much

I bet the Red rock version would have been even better if it wasn't all retouched.
Those transplanted close-ups destroy all the spontaneity of the performance.

Not my all time favorite but the live singing version on Solid Gold in 1984 is pretty cool. Too bad the music was not live too. She does pretty good improv Stevie was one of the few performers ever to sing live on Solid Gold.

My favorite "Stand Back" seen in person was Los Angeles way back in 1983.

It's been twelve years since I've seen "Stand Back" or Stevie Nicks in person.

My favourite live performance comes from NYC (with Tom Petty) 1983, the 1983 Radio Broadcast from Oakland, and the ones from Holmdel, NJ and Weedsport, NY in 1986.
