I finally made it all the way through the "Blue Water" demo. I find it overlong and repetitive (and I don't believe that level of reverb was intentional). As someone new to the song, I really like what they did with it on 24K. The first minute is true to the demo, but then they give it some much-needed groove with the guitar and drums. It sounds more Americana than country, like a really good Bonnie Raitt song.
I think just about everything on the new album works. But if you prefer the original demo, you can always listen to that too. Just my 2 cents. |

Nothing can beat the remastered demo of Blue Water but I really love the 24K version also. This makes me doubly satisfied.

I too love the 24K "Blue Water" better than the demo version. I am sure no one else gets this, but I feel an early 80s/late 70s Pointer Sisters vibe with it...which I love all Pointer Sisters. Like a distant cousin of "Slow Hand" but in Stevie Nicks land.

like all of you, I definitely hear an R&B vibe to this song. In my mind I was thinking of the similarlity to Crusin' (Together), by Smokey Robinson. You have to get through the first minute and 2 seconds of the song to reach it, but it's R&B all the way to me! Great song!

I've always liked the demo but the album version improves on the demo so much. It's one of the best songs on the album, too.
