Default Mick & Stevie In Warren Zevon Special...

I watched the making of Warren Zevon's last album since he is terminally ill, and they intervied Stevie and Mick. Stevie said how if anyone wanted to be a good song writer they should listen to Warren's music.

The whole special was great, but sad. I'll be picking the album up Tuesday.

I'm watching the special right now. and it's hard for me not to cry. My aunt has lung cancer, and we currently don't know how long she has to live. It was wonderful to see Stevie on tv though.

It's on again tonight at 8 PM ET - check VH1 for more air dates - Stevie and Mick are on in the first 5-10 minutes only. It really is a great show, Zevon fan or not.

I also watched this. So very sad. I guess Stevie and Mick weren't involved in this album, like alot of the other musicians that were included, because they were busy finalizing SYW.

I just hated seeing Warren failing - especially where he was trying to do vocals, and just couldn't get the timing right. That is painful to watch.

I thought it was interesting that Warren said that he was reading the fan postings about him and was shocked that fans said "That is why Warren is our hero. Because he won't get treatment". How screwed up is that?!

I am glad he was able to make it to see his grandchildren.

It made me think alot about what Stevie would do if something like that were to happen to her. That would be so devestating.

I read an article about Warren...but it was a few months ago...I thought he chose not to get treatment because it would only make him sicker during his time left (the effects of chemo and radiation are often worse than the cancer itself). He knew he was going to die, so he probably thought, "Why prolong my life only to have it be miserable?" Just a thought...

If I'd have written a song on "Rumours"? How about "You want a what?", or "We should have had a Pre-Nup". (John McVie)

Yes - that is true.

In my post I only meant that Warren was absolutely horrified that people would consider him a "hero" because he chose not to get treatment. Warren said that life is precious and should never been taken for granted, and the fact that some people thought that it was cool not to get treatment was upsetting to him.

Ohhh I see. That IS pretty weird to think someone's cool for that reason...

I just saw this last night, too. Thank GOD for Warren's humor, it got me through the show; I was laughing yet was welling up throughout.

The whole thing just brought back memories of my cousin Paul Bass. Paul was a fantastic musician...he had just recorded a new album and debuted it at a "family reunion/Paul's 50th; his dad's 80th birthday party/CD debut concert" in 1997 (he was already in failing health then, but he was getting treatment)...it was the first time he, my other cousin Bobby & I ever played music together even though we'd all been musicians since childhood (mostly due to geographics). After that concert, Paul had said that he was already working on another special project, but he wanted me to play on the album AFTER that...it never happened, he passed away (suddenly, when he was seemingly improving, up until then) in January 1999, two months before he was to have started that album.
